About Optimus Prep

Optimus-Prep concentrates solely on the GMAT platform. This New York based upstart offers us little in the way of their roots and origin. Instead, they offer reviews and testimonials based upon their success rates along with a fifty point improvement or your tuition is refunded. Optimus is another on-demand venue that allows students to progress and access information at their own pace.

Optimus-Prep bases their learning process on a pyramid method. They build their clients up starting with general knowledge, then work up to test strategies. They also emphasize success for non-native test takers and students who have been out of school for many years.

Optimus-Prep tiered courses all come with:

  • More than 180 hours of material
  • 5,500 questions with explanations
  • Up to one year of access
  • Analytical features and adaptive systems

Good teacher, he really broke down the basics of the test. I felt like it really boosted my scores when I studied with their tools.

I opted for the online private tutoring package from Optimus Prep. I loved the personalized approach and all the interactive material that comes along with the package! For me, this is what really set it apart from other packages from similar companies. If only I had found Optimus Prep first, I could have saved so much time, energy, and mostly money! They offer practice tests and questions that can be sorted by type of question within the verbal or the quantitative sections, and the difficulty level at the same time. For example, I was having a really hard time with parallel structure, especially at the 700+ level. There is so much going on in the sentences at that point that I was getting lost in all of the false clues. My tutor helped me recognize this problem, and we sorted out questions and practiced together until I could recognize it in my sleep. This alone improved my verbal score by a huge percentage!

It is a very user friendly interface, with plenty of practice problems. The problem question bank was very diverse, I did not run into repeat questions. As you progress through the lessons you get awards and notifications from other users. It’s nice to feel like you are in the community rather than an individual while you are studying. Otherwise, the lessons are broken down and easy to follow. The course description sets realistic expectations of time-frames. The price was better than any other option with a coupon from GMAT club. The only reason I did not rate it 5 stars was the solutions to missed problems. It could be hard to understand, there were a few questions when I would review the solution, but still be unclear on how to do it correctly.

    • MBA application & school advice: Take multiple GMAT practice tests, either 3 or 4. Make sure to do your research on schools, and have a stretch, realistic, and competitive selections. Also identify who will write your letter of recommendation early, to give them more time. Great letters can set you apart from other applicants.
