About Magoosh GMAT

Magoosh is a play on the Persian word “Magush,” which means “one who is highly-learned, wise and generous.” Magoosh’s team describes itself as, “a bunch of education nerds who get super stoked about helping students achieve their academic dreams.” Interested in hearing what your peers think about Magoosh GMAT Prep, read our Magoosh reviews below.

Back in 2008, co-founders Pejman Pour-Moezzi and Vikram Shenoy first began working on the concept of Magoosh.  At first they managed test preparations with crowdsourced questions and answers. Later in 2009, their focus shifted towards an expert-powered preparatory platform, rather than a people-propelled experience.

Magoosh is an admissions prep company with an informative blog, offering a 7-day free trial.  Magoosh GMAT offers a variety of guarantees promising improved test scores and more efficient learning methods. They also have targeted study schedules that evaluate when it’s best for a particular student to begin studying and times dependent upon when you’re the most motivated. This information will guide the learner more effectively up through the day of testing.

    Brennan Mullins:

Magoosh really helped me. I took the GMAT without any help at first and did very poorly. Then I found Magoosh and took the detailed courses and my score improved substantially. I highly recommend using Magoosh to prepare!

    Yashaswi Pinnamareddy:

Magoosh Test Prep is hands-down one of the best personalized and customized platforms test-takers can utilize for getting a relatively high score on their exams. I personally used the Magoosh GRE test prep and extensively utilized the 7-day free trial that helped me score consistently at 169 or 170 on the Quant of the PowerPrep GRE tests and sometimes a 163 range on the practice tests. Those at Magoosh respond pretty quickly to any questions you may have as well, so their client service is top-notch especially if you need answers before test day. I felt Magoosh is a great way to improve on time-management with their quizzes. For their AWA essays, they have a great feedback essay session with their live courses you can try in the free-trial. Magoosh’s free vocab builder is a must – it’s what surprisingly helped me score a 167 on the Verbal section and a 5.5 on the AWA during my actual GRE exam (I was thinking I would have scored near a 161 based on my previous practice so I was happy with how it turned out!).

I am sure the same results can be found with the GMAT test prep as well (tip: just because one is an MBA applicant, that doesn’t mean the verbal section should be ignored or taken lightly as top MBA & Masters programs like a balanced score amongst both Quant & Verbal).

However, I also bought the Manhattan 5lb book that is accompanied with free access to their 6 practice tests online – so that also helped me hone my quant & verbal logical reasoning skills further. In the end, though, while these resources help with practice, the success is reliant upon you and your dedication to trying be a better learner. While I find official practice from the test maker is Gold, Magoosh is very helpful for knowing the shortcuts & tricks needed to ace the exam. Plus, read a lot (like read the news, The Atlantic, New York Times – even on topics you may not follow everyday like architecture & music composition) and you will be set up for success. For quant, pair Magoosh with the Manhattan book & with your personal study by utilizing Khan Academy’s free Economics courses. When you apply the math tricks from Magoosh to your daily life to strengthen your quant and business skills, I guarantee you will notice a change. Granted, unexpectedly, Geometry questions tripped me up a little during my actual exam (not sure if it was the nerves), I was okay with the 165 on quant during my GRE as you can still take courses like MBA Math and have a shot at getting into your MBA program. Though, I encourage one to try for a 169/170.

GMAT may have been favored traditionally and is an ideal choice if you are comfortable with that test, so use Magoosh and other similar sources to prepare for that, especially if you are in a time crunch and have a busy work schedule. However, don’t feel pressured to take that test as many top b-schools have been accepting the GRE as well. Your success, as adcoms say, is dependent on your holistic applicant profile so focus on your personal statements & interview prep. Test scores can help in getting access to scholarships, so always aim high & never give up! Test preparation can be a grueling process at times, causing you to doubt yourself, but Magoosh for sure makes the process seem effortless with their user-friendly platform. So for future MBA students or other grad applicants, I highly recommend checking out the affordable service and, trust me, you won’t regret it!

P.S. For those planning on taking the GRE, use the free pdf of the GRE Big Book by ETS which has 27 older practice tests from the old test style (though outdated, it definitely helped me in my overall prep!)

Magoosh boosted my GMAT score over 100 points. The study guide structure, self-paced lectures, and practice question bank were key in boosting my score. Magoosh is also an incredible value, which I am so grateful for.

    CHI O:

I love the bite-sized videos and the explanations were really clear. It is also one of the most affordable courses compared to what is available in the market.

  8. 4 out of 5

    Ashley LeHaf:

Great program, loved the videos. But you definitely have to be motivated and ready to create a self-schedule for yourself. It was very affordable though in comparison to the others, and I appreciate the value they provided at Magoosh.

    Christiana N:

Started out with the free trial and then paid for the one month test prep package. Great resource and test prep for the actual test. Loved the flashcard and practice question component. The +5 point guarantee is really true – I scored +3-5 points after using their practice tools.

    Jennifer Zhang:

Paid for the 1 month test prep package + free vocab flashboards. Their questions are very similar to the GRE test questions in structure and topic. They also have an analytics component that let’s you know how you are doing on time and accuracy.

Magoosh is a great tool for GMAT and GRE prep. I particularly enjoyed their apps in the app store which had a variety of great study options such as flash cards, practice test questions, quizzes, and study guide. It makes it feel like a game vice studying. It definitely helped me prepare for the GMAT! Highly recommend this service over others!

    Yagna Madala:

Really appreciated the extensive database of questions and very comprehensive guide to the topics that were covered in each section. Also liked how it tracked performance and likely score in each section as you keep taking practice tests.

  13. 5 out of 5

Magoosh GRE prep helped boost my verbal score from ~158 on my early practice tests to a 169! The practice questions and vocabulary lists were spot-on.

    Grant Kirkpatrick:

Magoosh has a great, actionable program that gives you a steady plan to do around work. It has options for how quickly and intensely you want to prepare. I also found the explanation videos at the end of each question to be incredibly informative. It also has the data to tell you where you need to work more on within math and verbal sections. I also think the price is the fairest of all the prep programs.

  15. 5 out of 5

Magoosh GMAT came highly recommended by a friend and happened to be on sale as well. Overall, the program is set up very well with an easy to use interface. Magoosh contains many 5-15 minutes videos covering all necessary topics needed for the test. They include agenda’s and discussion boards to help study. There were over 500+ questions for each Quant and Verbal sections and can be taken individually or in a test setup. I have never used another test prep program, but I was happy with Magoosh. I would keep an eye out for when it is on sale though as there might be other programs better for the full price

    Teja Cherukuri:

I did the self-paced prep over the span of 6 months. Thanks to the pandemic, I was really able to go through the different videos and test strategies and apply them. Knowing which skills I was lacking and being able to address them through more guided practice was definitely advantageous as there are plenty of questions to practice with. The one con I can think of is that due to the course’s self-paced (and self-motivated) nature, it is really easy to not have any accountability for progress.

Overall, the price is extremely reasonable for the quantity and quality of the content provided, as long as you are willing to schedule time in your schedule for it!

  17. 5 out of 5

    Daniel Quintana:

Great program to continue studies and achieve final goal. I used magoosh to get over the hump and did not regret it. I particularly found the specific study schedules useful in keeping focused on my end goal.

Magoosh made studying for both the GMAT and the GRE almost (dare I say it) fun! I came to love the videos, the practice problems, and the video answers to not only their GRE questions, but the Officia Guide GRE questions as well.

    Giorgio Izzo:

I found the content easy to digest and accessible. I started studying through Magoosh pre-COVID and traveling quite a bit at the time for work. It was great being able to watch videos on my ipad on the go. I used the same materials for both the GMAT and the EA exam and I would recommend it to anyone looking to take a more customized approach on studying timelines and of course the price points are very competitive.

I have used a number of different GMAT programs, and Magoosh was the most wholistic. It both offers a guide to success as well as clear path through the process. I recommend Magoosh to anyone looking for GMAT program that seeks a proven strategy to excelling on the GMA.

Magoosh was the perfect choice for me when deciding on how to start studying for the GMAT. The on-demand videos and self-paced learning was perfect as I worked full-time. The quantity and quality of the material was also very sufficient. It is definitely the most bang for your buck option.

    Allison Wray:

Really enjoyed the video content, and the outlines of each section were particularly helpful so that I could focus on the areas that I knew I needed to focus on. I was able to skip over sections that I knew I already had mastery over.

    Nidhi Singh:

Great program with relevant course work that helped bring structure to my GMAT-prep efforts amidst a full time job. The mobile app was also helpful to revise while on the run! Questions could be made a bit more difficult based on user inputs, but all in all, great practice work!

Magoosh is an extremely comprehensive resource for GMAT prep. I tried several other services, and the video explanations to problems that Magoosh provides are unparalleled. Their practice tests are also very reflective of the actual GMAT.

    Taylor Tubbs:

Magoosh was so helpful as I was preparing for the GMAT. I especially appreciated the flash cards, as someone who was on the go and could use my spare time commuting on the subway to study. I do wish that the material could be more tailored to the level that I came into my GMAT prep in.

    Ruvimbo Mangoma:

As someone who started off with Magoosh’s GMAT then opted to write the GRE instead, I had experience using both products. Overall, the lesson plans were well constructed, easy to follow, and engaging. The platform, also allows you to track your progress, as well as see in real-time how many hours are left in your lesson plans, depending on the plan you chose. For Verbal, the explanations on word definitions were also done relatively well, and the tutors going through, how they would think through a reading comprehension question, line by line was also well done. I found the Quant questions on Magoosh, to be slightly different than what you would find on ETS, the ETS guide had questions that were more useful in that regard. Overall, I believe the ETS Guide and PowerPrep Exams, would be the number 1 best source for Prep, Magoosh, would be a secondary yet cost-effective prepping method. Would definitely choose it again over the more expensive test prep brands.

  50. 5 out of 5

    Brett Pohlman:

Magoosh organizes all of the content into a digestible and easy to understand format. Not only does it make it easy to run through the material the first time, but it also makes it easy to review topics you may need some more work on. The flexibility is also amazing, making it easy to study with whatever time window you have available. Your membership to Magoosh is also good for a long time, so if for some reason your GMAT prep gets put on pause, it’s available for you to come back to. I highly recommend and wish there was a way to spread the word so others could avoid wasting their money on Manhattan prep. Also, it’s so cheap!!

For those also considering Manhattan prep:
I got a private tutor from Manhattan test prep at the beginning of my GMAT studying and all it was a gigantic waste of money. All it did was make me that I needed more structure to my GMAT prep. I got Magoosh and it was such an improvement, and cost a fraction of what I paid for Manhattan prep.

  51. 5 out of 5

    Hoguer sanchez:

Magoosh was cost-efficient and broke down lessons into appropriate bites where I would be able to study with the time I had. The video was easy to follow and the material to test your knowledge really gives you a sense of what the questions will be on the actual exam.

  52. 5 out of 5

Magoosh is an incredible value. Pairing the Magoosh material with additional print material and following tips and tricks from other sources is a great way to study for the GMAT.

  53. 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed Magoosh and have used them for GRE and GMAT prep. While both are similar, I felt as if the GRE prep was more polished. Their videos do a good job explaining the thought process on how to get to answers. I’d recommend Magoosh.

    Pooja Patel:

Magoosh was a great way to brush up on my math and test taking skills. The videos were in-depth and did a great job explaining different topics. I also appreciated how cost efficient the program was. The content was definitely worth more than the price!

  56. 4 out of 5

    Tyler Whiteman:

Magoosh was a wonderful and cost-efficient prep service for MBA graduate admissions. My favorite aspect was the live-chat feature which allowed me to get direct help from a Magoosh expert whenever something was unclear (whether it be subject/question specific or about the test itself).

My review is 4 stars as opposed to 5 on the basis of perceived outdated source material.

My personal experience when I went in to take the actual test was that many items–that were stressed time and time again through Magoosh training videos–promised to be present on the test were not there at all, leaving me unprepared for things that were actually on the test from time spent on items that were no longer a prominent factor on the current test.

  57. 5 out of 5

    Alex Henderson:

I used Magoosh to study for the GRE exam. They were easy to follow, and took a lot of the complication out of the process. It was a great balance of test-taking tips, content instruction, and practice. My favorite component was their schedule. If you have a month to study for the exam, for example, then they break each day down into a check list.

  58. 5 out of 5

    Ayush Desai:

I signed up for Mangoosh premium self-study plan. I did not use the videos that much but the list of questions were extremely helpful. The explanations to the questions were very straightforward and insightful. It helped me decipher the logic behind the questions and build a blueprint to answering all of the different questions.

    Ibhade Eigbobo:

The Magoosh video lessons really helped me home down on what areas I needed to improve. I was able to improve my GMAT score by 80 points after using this service. I would highly recommend

    Eli Weiss:

They clearly put a lot of effort into this, and it’s easily the most concise study program with the easiest to understand explanations I have ever used. Admittedly, it’s pricey, but you definitely do get what you pay for here. Well worth it if you’re serious!

  61. 5 out of 5

If you need assistance establishing a study plan and/or don’t know where to begin in your study journey, look no further than Magoosh! Great resource for learning the subject matter and tips for faster problem solving. Great vocabulary flashcard app too!

    Priscilla Muiuane:

I love the Magoosh videos and the apps. I have been using them for a few months now and the videos are so comprehensive and easy to follow and I find them way easier than reading the gMAT books I purchased a few months ago. I will definitely keep the books to do practice questions, but Magoosh has been great to learn the basics for especially the math component of the GMAT. Would 100% recommend.

  63. 5 out of 5

Magoosh was exactly what I needed to kick-start my GMAT prep. The practice questions were incredibly addictive and the dashboard progress pie chart very encouraging. The quick turnaround time in email help was especially appreciated!

  64. 5 out of 5

Magoosh’s materials truly helped me feel prepared for the GMAT, and helped create a well-rounded prep plan. Love the app with flash cards!

  65. 4 out of 5

Magoosh has a great repository of questions and will definitely helps in understanding concepts.

    Sofiya Kantor:

I purchased the books. In hindsight I should have just sprung for the self paced video learning. I think you just need to really reflect the way that you learn best. The books broke down every concept into easy to understand basics.

  67. 4 out of 5

I felt the Magoosh platform was very helpful to guide a structured preparation program, but the practice questions were not as tailored to my strengths/weaknesses as I would have wanted.

    Jessica Pittman:

Magoosh has helped me to not only review my testing skills but to better understand how the test is created. I highly recommend Magoosh to anyone who either needs just a refresher in the content or to people who have test anxiety and/or poor test taking skills. It won’t disappoint.

  74. 4 out of 5

    Ernie Doherty:

Magoosh was excellent for it’s flashcards and quick videos. I would not say it is a comprehensive test prep, but is better for reviewing after you’ve done something substantial (e.g., Manhattan Prep, Kaplan). The flashcards help you review concepts in math, vocab, writing quickly and conveniently, such as during your commutes.

  75. 5 out of 5

    Annie Garofalo:

Loved Magoosh – found the videos and personalized test analysis super useful. This was the only thing I used when studying for the GRE (took the GRE not the GMAT for my MBA application).

  76. 5 out of 5

    Hannah Jones:

Magoosh had great practice tests and educational videos that made learning both practical and easy. I would recommend Magoosh to anyone studying for a graduate school entry exam.

  77. 5 out of 5

    Tania Cervantes:

The Magoosh Test Prep offered great practice questions. It’s a great tool to use and I will definitely recommend it to anyone looking to prep for the GMAT.

  78. 4 out of 5

    Janie Ng:

The Magoosh Test Prep was great for the quant portion with simple examples building up to more difficult word problems. The verbal was not as detailed and the examples were not the same as the actual GMAT samples. I spent more time, reviewing Magoosh hints and suggestions and applied the hints the official guide verbal passages. Overall, Magoosh is easy to use, the vocabulary prep app was great – I would use when I had free time to study. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a prep course for the GMAT.

    naitri desai:

Great practice questions!! Vocab app is amazing, helped me improve my verbal score by several points. Also the essay videos were really helpful. Definitively a must watch

  80. 4 out of 5

    Nick O’Neill:

MAGOOSH is a great tool to use. One pro is that when you take quizzes it calculates your estimated score. What it does lack is that each lesson is not immediately followed by a quiz on that specific topic

  81. 5 out of 5

Very affordable and video infrastructure on specific topics is great for refresher and specific problem areas. Highly recommend as a supplemental study tool on top of professional services or on it’s own.

    Alexander Ratliff:

I took the GMAT by preparing on my own and was the worst choice I could made, didn’t even scored a 300! But after using Magoosh’s test prep I was able to increase my score 250 points!

    Phil Neumann:

Great preparation tool for the GMAT!

  84. 4 out of 5

    Ibrahim Hakima:

Very useful prep tool. I don’t use it all of the time, but it has been very helpful in helping me understand the general level of questions and knowledge. The most important factors are the quality content and how well the problems are explained.

  85. 5 out of 5

    Daniel Leisten:

Magoosh’s self paced program was very helpful for GMAT studying. Improved my score by 60 points. The online videos are very thorough and directly applicable to every topic.

  86. 5 out of 5

    Hannah Jones:

Magoosh was easy to use and had great video content that allowed me to focus on my weaker areas. For example, when I needed to retake the GRE for my MBA application, I had not taken a math class in 12 years! Using Magoosh I was able to get realistic test questions and tips to succeed on the test. I also thought that Magoosh’s essay videos were particularly helpful. Even if you’re a strong writer, you need to know how to write for the test. Magoosh gives you the support you need to hit the score necessary for your desired program!

  87. 5 out of 5

    Christopher Simpkins:

Magoosh puts all the resources at your finger tips for a successful GMAT. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking for a single location for everything GMAT.

  88. 4 out of 5

    Camille Kapaun:

Magoosh was easy to use, and I really liked the video tutorials. I would have given 5 stars if there were video explanations for all the Official GMAT questions.

  89. 4 out of 5

    Aaron Gardner:

I used the app to go over math questions when I had a few min here and there. The explanations helped give me a different view as to how to answers those questions. There were some obvious bugs or errors in text, but nothing I couldn’t get around.

  90. 3 out of 5

    Anton Antonov:

The Magoosh course website presents the typical information about the GMAT topics, which you can just as easily find in online. The big benefit of using this service is that the web videos can be viewed while you’re on the go, and at 1.5x speed.

  91. 5 out of 5

    Omar Smith:

I relied on Magoosh’s mobile app in transit a ton. The content for verbal was particularly great and was great for drills when on the go. Content was challenging, which was very helpful after exhausting the other options- definitely helped sharpen my skills. For a free version of an app, I there isn’t much better.

    Kinga Toczylowski:

Great customizable program that allows students to pace themselves and continue moving toward their desired scores and build confidence in their skills. The challenges the program offers students ensures nothing on the test will come as a surprise. It is worth the investment.

    Casey Hubbell:

I found the problems to be more difficult than what I actually encountered on the test, but that helped me receive a better score than I expected. Very thorough test prep!

I really enjoyed using Magoosh in order to prep for taking the GMAT. The video walk you through every step for solving quant problems, in addition to providing an in-depth explanation for answers to verbal questions. Magoosh provides you with a good foundation for talking the GMAT.

    Sydney Tsai:

This was a great way to prepare for the GMAT. The web access is interactive and allows you to work at your own pace. The UI was great as it let you keep track of your progress. They also had a money back guarantee if you don’t improve your score by a certain amount of points (which is why I signed up). I used this primarily as a supplement to my other practice which was not ideal as it was a little difficult for me to find things to hone in on instead of training everything.

  96. 5 out of 5

I choose Magoosh for it’s price, and was really happy with the content and lessons. I followed the lesson plans and videos. The platform and apps were easy to use. I especially needed math practice, so I focused on the math lessons and practice. I took the quizzes after the lessons and use the analysis on the practice questions to focus on what I needed to study most. If you need an economical test prep, with the flexibility of an online platform, I highly recommend Magoosh.

    Andrea Walraven:

    Great bang for your buck!

Top notch but will cost more than most. The practice questions are very similar to what was found on the GMAT!

    Janie Ng:

I started off at point zero. I had been out of school for 10+ years and was extremely rusty and slow in my quantitative skills. I need to review and re-learn my high school math. Magoosh was helpful with the videos, coupled with the examples to re-build my quant skills. The videos were a plus, as you need both the written and visual to understand concepts. I would recommend using Magoosh to prep for the GMAT. The few verbal videos I used were also helpful, I did focus on Verbal as much. If you need a quant refresher and like a more tutorial approach, pick Magoosh. The samples they used were not exactly the same as the official guide, GMAT questions, so I only applied what I learned from Magoosh to the O.G. questions. That worked better for me.

    Kristen Dealy:

Magoosh is a great test prep tool, mainly due to the large library of test questions and digestible explanations. I also loved that you can use the apps to run through vocabulary and practice questions on the go. Would certainly use again, especially because cost is extremely affordable.

    Alex LaValle:

Magoosh is very good for visual learners. The instructors, like those of any other prep course, are clearly experts in their field – but really set themselves apart in breaking down concepts and explaining the underlying logic for solving each problem. I improved my math by a lot my using them and I have recommended them to friends since.

Magoosh was also the very economical choice compared to in-person bootcamps or even reading-based programs. It was only $99 when I used it which was more than worth the money. I would recommend pairing it with another source though, as I often heard that ManhattanPrep was more difficult than the problems in Magoosh.

  103. 5 out of 5

I absolutely loved using Magoosh to prep for the GMAT. Prior to Magoosh, I attempted to prep for the GMAT using a prep textbook, but after taking the GMAT for the first time, I didn’t do well. That’s when I turned to Magoosh! Using Magoosh, I was able to improve my GMAT score by 100 points! I loved the tutorial videos Magoosh has. They really helped me to understand how to approach and solve certain problems. They also pointed out some key tricks the GMAT may throw at you. I also loved how Magoosh has a ton of practice questions. They really break down every aspect of the exam, but I mainly focused on the Quantitative portion. Magoosh provides a ton a very specific tutorial videos on how to tackle the Quantitative portion of the exam. Overall, I’m extremely thankful I found Magoosh, because it was extremely helpful and super affordable! 10/10 would recommend for GMAT prep.

    Shannon Nolte:

Magoosh was really great self-study mechanism for my GMAT Prep. With a plethora of practice questions and associated instructional/explanation videos, I felt it was the best method and price-point for me. They even have add-on apps to help with studying on the go. Highly recommend.

Magoosh was a good bang for you buck program. They had more than enough pre-recorded videos and countless practice problems for you to review. I would definitely recommend buying the Official Guide and following one of their recommended study schedules.

    Nicolas Maffey:

The exercises are OK but they don’t really reflect the difficulty of the actual test, especially for the math section. I also find that they need more variety as I completed their lessons quite quickly and then I was only left redoing the same questions.

    Christina Barry:

I had no idea how to begin studying for the GMAT. I found Magoosh and their 3 month study plans and corresponding videos and knew it was the right plan for me. Following their guide and watching the lesson videos allowed me to get into the MBA program I applied for. I’ve since recommended Magoosh to friends considering taking the GMAT exam.

    Traci McMurray:

I used Magoosh to study and prepare for taking the GMAT in December 2019. I found the entire program to be extremely helpful and it offers a nice user interface that made it easy to tackle learning some of the more complicated quantitative skills required for a successful GMAT score. Starting with a short assessment helped point me in the right direction to ensure I was studying as efficiently as possible. I also liked that I could watch the teaching and problem explanation videos at x1.5 speed. Highly recommend as I think it is the best tool for the money paid.

    Logan Calder:

I’ve tutored a lot of people who have used a variety of test prep services. I was usually very impressed with Magoosh practice questions. They imitate the GMAT very well. Other test prep services would have questions that just felt weird to me. But Magoosh questions just felt right – the right topics, wording, and challenge.

    Odunmorayo Akindoju:

I used magoosh’s 3 month program and my favorite part about it were the interactive videos, practice questions, and flash cards. It is an amazing way to keep yourself organized with studying without feeling overwhelmed. It made it very easy to learn and I got a great score on my GRE.

Magoosh has great resources and videos. There are so many questions that will help you review the material, and it pushes you to understand the material by not giving you the right answer until you can figure it out. I used a promo code and it was the most affordable option out there!

    Alana Strassfield:

The videos by Mike for quant and verbal are great and his attitude really resonates with me, “now that’s an elegant way to look at a problem.” I increased from 530 to 610 with Magoosh. Was hoping to go higher and eventually did with more studying. The customer service at Magoosh is absolutely fantastic.

    James Burns:

Magoosh has excellent resources and a large bank of high quality GMAT questions. The quality of your preparation is really dependent on how high quality the type of questions you study are. Magoosh does a good job of providing a battery of questions that will prepare you well for the exam. In general, their quantitative questions were better quality than their verbal, but for the price of the preparation software, they are all very high quality. Additionally, the videos were excellent! I highly recommend Magoosh.

    Asya Gubskaya:

I found Magoosh videos engaging and helpful. I appreciated information about the shortcuts and how to save time during the exam, and detailed explanations of the math problems and logic that test-takers should be using when tackling problems. The support team was very responsive, and I found their online chat to be a handy tool when I had questions. I think the value Magoosh provides exceeds the value greatly.

  125. 5 out of 5

The Magoosh material helped me learn concepts that I hadn’t seen since high school. Their employees expeditiously answered the questions that I didn’t understand. I credit the easy to use website design and short, manageable videos to my success on the exam.

  126. 5 out of 5

Magoosh provides ample questions and lesson videos to help you achieve your score. The program is good for someone who needs the flexibility to study on their own time.

  127. 5 out of 5

Magoosh test prep was easy to use and actually engaging. I opted for the 6 months plan since I planned to take the GMAT a few times, in case my scores were not as expected. I’m better at self-study, so I preferred this over in-person courses.

    Davis Birsan:

I used Magoosh for my GMAT study prep, and honestly I am very thrilled with the result to cost ratio. Magoosh is very affordable and the videos are short, yet insightful. Additionally, the UI/UX of the website is well thought out and helps you to stay on track.

I will say I did need to purchase an advanced math book from another provider, as the first time I took the GMAT, my math score was low. However, the book was only $25. After combining the book with Magoosh, my score went from a 680 to a 750.

    Alexandra Harokopus:

Magoosh is an extremely user friendly resource geared towards audio visual learners. Katarina N:

Magoosh is an extremely valuable study resource especially for the affordable price. They provide short, thorough, digestible tutorials on every topic on the GMAT and more than enough practice questions that can be filtered and customized based on what you would like test practice on. A month from my test date I paid for 1 hour of 1:1 Magoosh tutoring and was able to get detailed analysis of my studying so far as well as a helpful study strategy leading up to test day. I highly recommend using Magoosh’s resources and if you have any questions their team is very responsive.

For people like me who need guidance for how to study for the GMAT, Magoosh is for you. In the past, I’d used Manhattan Prep and couldn’t improve my GMAT score. Manhattan Prep is a good company, but I’d made little progress because I had bad study habits.

With Magoosh you’ll get different study routines (i.e. 3 months, 6 months, 12 months) depending on when you plan to take your GMAT test. You simply pick your study plan and commit to investing 1-3 hours daily. If you’re self-motivated you’ll succeed with Magoosh. -Chris A.

I used Magoosh for about 4 months when I took the GMAT this Summer. The program was loaded with practice problems that came with video explanations. They offered a wide range of problems from each subject and allowed me to perform very well. Prices were fairly reasonable and they offer discounts a lot of the time too!

    Gonzalo Choque:

Magoosh is really useful for folks who benefit from audio/visual explanations. Magoosh was extremely helpful! The practice questions were so similar to the actual test and the app made it so easy to get study time in. The customer service is also great. If I emailed a question concerning a practice problem they were so quick to get back to me with thorough explanations. I also used their tutoring service which made a world of a difference. Julie Sawyer:

Magoosh is a nice online format but it doesn’t explain the test very well and does not force you to prepare in test conditions like using the whiteboard or forcing the format of the GMAT for practice.

    David Williams:

I chose the self-study option, and followed one of the provided study plans to work through lectures and practice problems. Studying seriously and working full-time is always tough, no matter the industry. I’ve confidently recommended Magoosh to several colleagues since.

Score after using just the GMAT Official Guide on my own: 660
    Score after using Magoosh: 730

I especially appreciated the Magoosh videos covering tips and tricks. These saved actual time on test day. If you put in the work and follow the plan, you’ll get there!

    Kait Capone:

I was intrigued by Magoosh because of the ability to take a self-paced GMAT prep course. With a demanding job and little time, I enjoyed being able to set my own study schedule. However, I will note that although this option is seemingly flexible, without the accountability of fixed courses this is a program most beneficial for those who are self-motivated and dedicated to their studies.

I enjoyed the ability to easily review topics and the found the quizzes and estimated score to be very accurate. This helped me realize where I needed specific support and allowed me to customize my study. Overall it was a great experience.

    David Greis:

I loved everything about Magoosh. The insight provided with the pre-recorded lessons and explanations on how to work through problems that I struggled with truly helped me during my GMAT preparation. Great self-service tool that can be an affordable supplement to OG and MP books. I didn’t feel I could afford a course, but I am glad I tried another service instead of just relying on the books for my test.

    Annie Garofalo:

I loved Magoosh test prep – I used it for the GRE (which nearly all if not all MBA programs now accept). The videos were very well taught and the way they categorized practice questions was hugely useful (e.g., you can sort your response accuracy by question type, section, specific topic, etc.). I highly recommend to anyone who feels they have the self-discipline to actually sit down and practice on their own.

Also would recommend this over traditional books / printed practice exams because the real exam is computer-based.

Video lessons were very helpful and straightforward. The lengths of the videos are long enough to teach the concept but short enough that you won’t lose concentration. I heard about Magoosh on one of my favorite blogs “What they Didn’t Teach You in History Class”. It was a great program, easy to use, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: AFFORDABLE! S Ahmad:

    Danielle Czirmer:

I used the Magoosh Online Prep service to prepare for my GMAT. The videos were super helpful and clear that I didn’t need a “real” person. There were so many good practice questions and useful analytics and ways to review my practice tests. I paid much more for in-person services at other companies but Magoosh was just better in how it was organized and presented material.

    Richard Tarr:

As a self-study kind of learner I thought Magoosh was the most cost-effective and efficient program out there and I wasn’t wrong. The site has a great general guide on study plans as well as a large amount of practice questions and videos to walk through difficult concepts. I definitely recommend for anyone into self-study.

  164. 5 out of 5

Excellent self paced online review option. The course could be adjusted to the amount of time one had to study. Well structured curriculum with clear video lessons (with transcripts), a good amount of practice questions (with explanations of answers), and great assessment tools to review how one did on each curriculum topic and the difficulty level of each question.

Magoosh GMAT Prep has been helpful in so many ways! First, the study guides are determined by how many days left in taking the test. From 1 year, 6 months, to even a month, a custom made designed study guide is set for you. The videos are absolutely helpful, as well as the study questions. There are no regrets using Magoosh, and I would use it again!

Magoosh made it easy to study on busy, professional schedule. I loved their online flashcards and multiple choice quizzes, which I could do during my train commute to work. I think the quizzes and tests were quite representative of the test, and I was able to become more confident before taking the test by improving my practice test scores on Magoosh. The online course videos were also easy to follow and helpful. Five stars!!

    Sung Lee:

Out of the three different GMAT prep platforms I used (eGMAT, Magoosh, and Manhattan), Magoosh’s offered the most organized video curriculum through which I could really focus on tackling my weaknesses and nailing down on the types of questions that I would see at 700+ score level.

  168. 4 out of 5

I used the online web browser based program. It was easy to use and the real-time score feedback was helpful but not always accurate. I really enjoyed how you could break down the topics and questions into any conceivable type of list or quiz. I also thought a strong point of the program was the detailed explanations to each question. The test taking tips were useful as well. Overall, great value for the 6-month price.

I found Magoosh’s resources to be exceptional. I worked with several other GMAT prep tools and none were as targeted, efficient, and organized as those available with Magoosh. As someone who has a hard time organizing my study time, I found their agendas incredibly helpful. Their live assistance was also great. From my first to second attempt I went from a score I was not happy with to one well above the bar I had set for myself.

    Fast Lane Nate:

Magoosh was by far the best test prep I used to get a great GMAt score. I took the GMAt three times. The first time I took the test I studied by myself by reading the GMAT book and doing problems. This didn’t help because I couldn’t grasp the concepts. The second time I took the test went to an online company, spent a whole bunch of $$$, and went through their whole training program. I didn’t gain much insight because I was pressured to finish my studies in 100 days. I work a tough schedule and needed more time than that.
Once again I didn’t do well on the test.

I vowed to take the test one final time this time I remembered a company that had really good forums and GMAT Official Guide 12th to 13th Edition problem conversion Excel Spreadsheets. I bought the old book and used the sheet to see which problems made it over to the new edition and if I can search for good answer explanations. This took me straight to Magoosh. They were really cheap compared to the money I spent on another online session. I loved their answer explanation for every problem they have in their program and most of the answers for the GMAC had explanation videos as well. They had really cool mobile flashcards to quiz myself weekly which I took advantage of.I think the best part was their study guides. I took their advice on the study guides and went straight to work. I studied for over 6 months and got the score I needed to get into business school. Definitely worth every penny and very affordable.

Really excellent video resource, step-by-step solutions to hundreds of practice questions across disciplines and levels of difficulty.

Magoosh was an invaluable part of my test prep strategy. I struggled most with timing, so being able to measure and compare the speed of my answers to problems of varying difficultly helped me learn how to maximize the points I could earn. I was pleasantly surprised to find out on test day that my score surpassed any practice exam score I had previously achieved.

  182. 5 out of 5

Magoosh’s straightforward lesson curriculum was perfect for my test preparation. Through the videos, I felt like I was in a classroom with an instructor getting a private lesson. I have recommended it to multiple peers also preparing for the GMAT.

  183. 5 out of 5

Magoosh helped me familiarize myself with the types of questions that would be on the GMAT. Through a better understanding of test format and timed quizzes I was able to establish a routine that helped me earn the score I was looking for on test day.

I completed a baseline GMAT exam, unprepared, for the first time in October 2016. I used Magoosh to prepare for the GMAT beginning in January 2017. My exam date was June 1, 2017. By watching about half of the Magoosh videos and completing hundreds of practice questions, I was able to raise my GMAT score by 40 points from the baseline score.

    E. Santiago:

I began using the software in order to prepare myself for the exam. I hadn’t taken a placement exam since the SATs and ACTs in high school over 10 years ago. I used the application on my phone mostly. Flashcards, prep&practice, etc. the numerous options for me to study on the go was amazingly useful and I felt very well prepare for the exam.

Used Magoosh for the GRE 5 years ago and it was a no-brainer to use it again for the GMAT. I liked the content, practice tests, videos, and access to an actual human for consultation and testing advice. The algorithm steered me to address week spots and lean into my strengths. I’ve recommended Magoosh to all MBA candidates for GMAT prep.

    KOme G:

Magoosh was very helpful in explaining basic concepts and reminding me of certain things I had forgotten. I found the explanatory videos very helpful as well. In my experience, Magoosh was a supplementary and readily available resource, and I liked that it was valid for a year. Ultimately, I ended up enrolling in a class because I needed more accountability and one on one time to really understand some concepts I was missing. Magoosh for the math section was very helpful. The english section I didn’t find as helpful and did not utilize as much.

Overall, 4/5 rating. But if you know you will need additional accountability then definitely enroll in a class asap!

I initially started studying for the GMAT by self-studying with the Manhattan Prep books. After sometime I found myself just going through the motions and not actually improving. A friend recommended Magoosh and I gave it a try! I found that the online videos really touched upon the most important fundamentals; Magoosh does not overwhelm you with too much information. After using Magoosh I was able to get my practice test scores around 750 and my official score to 730.

    Joshua Stuart:

Magoosh is an excellent way to go at your own pace. The video explanations take an incredibly smart approach on how to think about answering GMAT questions. It doesn’t just equip you with knowledge on how to answer, but how to think about how the test works.

  190. 4 out of 5

Magoosh increased my score by 90 points. I really enjoyed Mike’s videos! I really loved the set-up of the math videos, but I think the verbal videos were more difficult to understand. There were a lot of terms that we didn’t have to memorize but were still confusing, and I’m a native English speaker. I do appreciate that they have solutions to almost every problem in the OG, and I love that Magoosh’s problems show you what concepts they tested below the problem. You have to have a lot of self-discipline to study on your own time. Follow the study guides even if you don’t feel like studying one day, and you will thank yourself come test day!

Magoosh was very useful during my MBA preparation.Great videos, very clear explanations, awesome instructors..Totally worth it! Highly recommended for anyone who is planning to take GMAT or GRE exams. You will be surprised when you see your improvement with Magoosh.People who are familiar with GMAT know how hard the English part is especially to people who English is not their native language. However, there is no need to be scared of incredibly difficult verbal section of GMAT with Magoosh.Totally loved it and enjoyed it.You will not regret what you purchased for. After long term searching for online preparation source when I came across with Magoosh.i knew that it was the right place to be at.Thank you Magoosh.

I am so glad i was able to sign up for Magoosh GMAT/GRE tutoring. I was able to increase my score by 8 points , which i was able to get into Grad school. I was able to figure out where my strengths and weaknesses were and focus more time in that area where weaknesses were.

  193. 4 out of 5

Magoosh Test Prep was very comprehensive. I enjoyed the self paced format of the class. It allowed me to work full time and study. The study plans are helpful however I did not feel like it was realistic due to the design of the course. This is a good option to start studying with however if you want more targeted tutoring and assistance, I’d look into other programs.

  194. 5 out of 5

I used Mangoosh to help me with both English and Math. The material provided by Mangoosh for English is very thorough and yet precise given the kind of verbal skills tested on the GMAT. I went through all their videos in a few days and was able to convert my score from a 66 percentile to a 90 percentile. The videos helped me learn how to manage each problem in under 1.5 minutes even when the questions were verbose. I would recommend anyone aiming for a 700+ score on their GMAT to have a thorough understanding of the problems tested and the best way to attempt those problems within a stipulated time which is ideally 1.5 minutes.

    Jasleen Bhardwaj:

I used magoosh’s online test prep program and I really like it. The best part is that they have video tutorials for every type of question you may see on the GMAT. The other part that I really liked is that they provide a huge bank of questions for both the math and verbal sections of the GMAT. I think it is around 650 question. The price is pretty reasonable as well. I think it costs about $150 for year-long access to test prep material. They also provide you with a handful of practice tests as well. It is a great program if you are good at managing your own time and are self-disciplined. If not, I would go for another program that isn’t online. The only reason I give it four stars is that for the math portion I didn’t think the strategies they used were the most effective strategies. They took way too long and were not always intuitive, but then again my quant skills are already not as great, so you may have a totally different experience.

    Jordan N.:

A very flexible platform perfect for those who are open to a self-guided plan! They have hundreds of practice problems and very thorough explanations. I also found their mobile apps and flashcards helpful for studying on-the-go. After many months of studying, the problems can get repetitive, so it is useful to have multiple studying resources to make sure you don’t memorize problems. Overall great tool!

  197. 4 out of 5

I liked that every question had a video explanation, it is helpfull to view every one of them even if you answer correctly because sometimes you guess correctly but don’t really know the answer or maybe they show you a better way to approach the question.
If you do the mock test, don’t rely 100% on the grade, because the questions are from the same pool and you will definitely get a higher score on those practice test, my advise is do the magoosh questions and do the gmac official practice and other tests

  198. 4 out of 5

Very useful prep program. Since I had a busy work schedule, the flexibility allowed me to prep myself with any blocks of free time available

    Anni at MIT Sloan:

Ideal for candidates who have excellent time management skills. This approach requires a lot of self-discipline, but I found it incredibly helpful. The videos, practice problems, and explanations provided everything I needed to raise my score from a 700 to a 740.

    Pooja K:

Magoosh was the perfect tool for me to use in my GMAT prep. I was independently reviewing the OG guides and would use the Magoosh lessons to supplement my learning wherever needed. The functionality of the website and their supplemental app with flashcards made life very easy, being able to study in a flexible fashion. Would highly recommend to anyone who is self-motivated to take advantage of this course that lets you go at your own pace.

  201. 5 out of 5

Magoosh was a GREAT program that really helped my quant score improved – it was a night and day difference. I had a shorter time to study, so didn’t follow the entire plan but it was still extremely useful and well worth the money.

  202. 5 out of 5

GMAT test prep through Magoosh was pretty good. Being able to easily target specific types of practice questions made test preparation very targeted and easy to focus on weak spots. Score projects for math and verbal were also very helpful. The practice tests were fairly accurate as well.

  203. 5 out of 5

Magoosh was by far the best GMAT test prep software I found. Their guarantee of increasing your score by 50 points is legitimate. I did not even finish the program and was able to improve my score by 40 points. If I had more time, I am sure it would have exceeded a 50-point increment.

  204. 5 out of 5

Magoosh was just what i needed! Great way to brush up on math skills I haven’t had to think about in ten years without the cost or restrictive structure on some other in person classes. Have the online classes to work through at your own pace as well as flashcards I reviewed on the train.
If you’re great at managing your own time this is the class for you.

  205. 5 out of 5

Magoosh is a great resource and a good supplemental program to really improve your GMAT scores. It’s pretty easy to burn through all of the official practice problems, so Magoosh will help you continue to build your GMAT skills.

  206. 5 out of 5

Magoosh is a great program for anyone who is self driven and looking to study on their own schedule. I was already in school when I was studying for the GMAT so I needed flexibility in terms of when I could watch the videos and do practice questions. I really enjoyed the smartphone app, which made it easy for me to watch tutorials on my lunch break or even on the train. The website offers several study guides that you can personalize based on how much time you have before your test and what your weaknesses are. I also learned a lot from the video tutorials that thoroughly explain the reasoning behind the correct answers — much more thorough than the explanations in the standard GMAT guide.

  207. 5 out of 5

Loved Magoosh. After years away from math courses and practice, I needed a lot of help getting my quantitative score up. The Magoosh program broke out the question types, strategies, and concepts clearly, and provided me with tons of practice questions so I became comfortable with the material. I also appreciated that it’s a complete and structured study program — it definitely kept me on track. Plus, you can’t beat the price compared to other study programs out there.

  208. 5 out of 5

I loved Magoosh – their online videos made complex topics extremely simple to understand, and fun to watch. Their study plans were effective and helped keep me motivated and on-track. This is a much better experience than simply going through the OG on your own, and you can do it at your own pace vs. signing up for an expensive class. I would not hesitate to use Magoosh again and would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for top-notch GMAT prep. I raised my GMAT score +30 points to break the 700-barrier with the help of Magoosh.

  209. 5 out of 5

Follow the study schedule they recommend. You have to be committed, but it is a great program. I loved the videos and test strategies they suggest.

Used them to work through GMAT questions on my phone on my phone during down time. Good Resource.

    Dan y:

Magoosh is great for do it yourself applicants. The key to it are the explanations after you get a question wrong. Sometimes when just doing the Official GMAT books you have No clue why you were wrong. Magoosh explains Everything and this helps build a better base of uderstanding. Also compared to other test companies the price is a steal, can’t hurt to try this considering a lot of applications to programs are more expensive.

  212. 4 out of 5

I found magoosh to be the best test prep to the “Do it yourself” type people. I’ve never worked well with test prep classes and my work schedule made courses hard to manage. I like being able to make my own schedule, and magoosh makes that possible. It’s also almost always on sale, so it’s very affordable. Their videos are comprehensive, but each one is short and easy to digest. I took their 6 month study guide and transcribed it into excel to make it easier to track progress.

  213. 4 out of 5

Magoosh offers a great variety of questions for all sections of the GMAT. After each question, there’s a helpful video that carefully explains how to correctly solve the given question. Magoosh also accurately estimates how well you will do on the gmat based the rate in which you correctly answer questions.

  214. 5 out of 5

It was very comprehensive and affordable. I was able to trial magoosh before purchasing which gave me the confidence that it was right for me.

I spent over a thousand dollars on manhattan gmat courses and materials. I have friends that have had great success With manhattan but it wasn’t for me. I spent pennies in comparison on magoosh and my studying really took off! The videos are Very well organIzed, eaSy to follow and you can Mark them and repeat them any time. Highly recommend!

Magoosh was a Very helpful GMAT prep resource.

The most valuable part of the prep was The videos. Watching the videos was very helpful to get me started studying. I would definitely recommend this resource to students who are looking for a refresher on the math side.
Watching The instruction videos were a great way to relearn and refresh some of the algebra and geometry lessons i had not thought about since high school.
I also enjoyed the practice problems along the way to check in on your Progress.
The website was clear and easy to navigate as well.

  219. 3 out of 5

While this is a popular and relatively inexpensive option for GMAT prep, it didn’t work for me. The lectures are too individual and not combined in blocks. I found assignments (test problem examples) being a little far from the actual problems (you can tell those problems were created by someone outside of GMAT). However, I know some people who got 740 using just Magoosh. It is all about individual preference.

  220. 5 out of 5

Magoosh was a great affordable option for gmat test prep. The free 30 day trial was enough to convince me of its value vs. much more expensive classroom options. The videos, sample questions and full length tests were definitely sufficient to fully prep

    Matt K:

Videos were super helpful. loved the methods. Great prep!

  222. 5 out of 5

Magoosh far exceeded my expectations for a test prep software. It was simple to use. It taught the material and also provided tricks to work faster, which is critical on the GMAT. By utilizing Magoosh for 3 weeks, I was able to improve my score by 40 points. I was not able to get through all of the Magoosh material or practice questions in time. Otherwise, I likely would have met the 50 point guarantee. I highly recommend Magoosh!

    Mark Mol:

Magoosh did a good job in explaining the quant section of the gmat. By starting from the basic rules, it allowed you to follow along smoothly until you got to the harder, test like MATERIAL. I would highly RECOMMENDED magoosh, especially for those who are looking to review their basics. however, I would not use magoosh as the only resource for studying. I would recommend focusing on the official guide PRACTICE questions rather than using magoosh question bank. These questions tend to be random and not adapt to you skill set accordingly. since i was not looking to score in the 675-750 range the questions became IRREVERENT to my skill set.

  224. 5 out of 5

magoosh has been so convenient since i can access it directly on my phone. it gave me the flexibility to study on my schedule, whether i had a few hours to sit down or a few minutes while waiting for the bus. The videos were helpful and a great tool to reinforce the content.

  225. 5 out of 5

Magoosh is awesome. You have to be determined and able to follow a study plan without any outside motivations to be successful. The videos are very helpful. i really like that you can watch them at 1.5 or 2x speed. videos consist of micro lectures on problem types and then working out the solutions of practice problems. the site also keeps track of which videos you have watched to help you complete the material.

While using magoosh my score went from around 550 to ultimately scoring a 680 on the gmat after 3 months of studying.

Magoosh GMAT prep online software was fantastic to help me study for the GMAT. They had an excellent selection of practice tests, questions, and videos to help you study. The test questions and practice tests i actually thought was more difficult than the actual test. Shown by my test score which was 70 points higher than where my practice tests came in. they would be a great choice for a well disciplined student who doesn’t need outside assistance to help study. Magoosh even extended my subscription after I waited to take the GMAT until the following year. Not bad for just $100.

  228. 5 out of 5

Magoosh is excellent! their study guides are great for planning out your gmat attack strategy and the online and mobile content are awesome tools to assist in executing this plan. I can sincerely say i would not have done as well on the gmat as i did without magoosh! I would suggest a strong determination to stick to the study guide that you select up front, and then committing the necessary time to that end. I would also suggest logging your progress as you go along to assess which types of questions give you the most problems in terms of both accuracy and time. I was very surprised about how much time played a factor in the test.

  229. 3 out of 5

Magoosh had many many video lessons which was a good change of pace from studying a textbook. The video explanations for practice problems, along with suggested lesson videos was one of my favorite features. I did notice that some references were out of date, particularly those that referred to the OG book. I think that the flash card app could be more reactive to the persons answers rather than cycling my through the questions. The three month guide seemed grueling and I ended up veering from the suggested study schedule. Some sort of adjustable plan to fit your needs based on progress would have been awesome.

  230. 4 out of 5

I liked that it was available on my mobile device. The overall questions seemed easier than actual test.

  231. 4 out of 5

The videos used to explain each test question and cover the theory were very helpful. The bank of test questions was great! The score prediction instrument was pretty rudimentary. The practice tests were good but not as good as the official GMAC Tests. The flashcards were awesome for practicing on my daily commute to the work.

I took the GMAT twice. The first time around I studied on my own only using the official guide. Second time around I used Magoosh. My overall score increased by 20 points which was a little disappointing. However I was very pleased with the increase in my integrated reasoning score.

  232. 4 out of 5

Good affordable way to practice. Wish the student had the ability to drill questions of all the same subject.

  233. 5 out of 5

Magoosh study resources were robust, directly aligned with the GMAT exam and free! I think the math review and vocabulary flash cards were most helpful. Great for a quick brush up on concepts right before the exam.

  234. 4 out of 5

Magoosh provided great help as a prepared to take the GMAT. To give you an idea of how much it helped, my initial practice test was a 590, and my final result was a 700.

Magoosh is excellent for several reasons:

    1. Content Learning – You learn the material you need to know through videos on all of the most salient content. The instructors give step-by-step instructions in how to solve problems, but also strategies in HOW to solve these problems given the time constraints of the GMAT. As anyone who has taken the GMAT knows, these shortcut strategies are absolutely critical.

    2. Study Plan Formats – I liked this. Few websites or book series actually break your practice down into manageable chunks, leaving you to aimlessly solve problems. Magoosh gives you a plan of study to work for 1 to 6 months. I found the 3 month strategy to work best for me.

    3. Tracking – You always know how you’re doing with the Magoosh practice problems. Many people say that the OG are the only reliable practice problems to use when preparing. While they are indicative of the quality of problems you will find on the GMAT, I thought Magoosh’s practice tests and problems “got my head in the game” – these are so similar to the OG problems that I don’t think it’ll make or break you. My strategy: practice with Magoosh first, then in your last month of study, switch to OG and use Magoosh to help facilitate the explanation of OG answers.

    Overall, a fantastic product.

  235. 5 out of 5

Magoosh is great for Quant prep. It gives you the ability to really isolate the types of problems that are challenging for you, and then drill them. The videos are great to help you walk through errors in your approach. I do not think that Magoosh verbal is similar to the verbal questions on the actual GMAT, but what works for everyone can be different.

  236. 5 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed utilizing Magoosh during my GMAT prep. It was a great tool, that started from the very basics of the information needed to achieve a top score. There are quite a few practice exams that you could customize, along with modules that first taught the material. They guarantee your score will increase from using the program, so I thought it was a great bet.

  237. 5 out of 5

Magoosh was hands down the reason I did well on the GMAT. I started with Manhattan initially, but for certain topics, I couldn’t seem to improve my score. With Magoosh, you can drill down to the topics you need to work on with filters for those questions, and then watch video tutorials of those that you seem to consistently have trouble with. I found this to be a really useful supplement to my studying. I only used Magoosh for the 2 weeks leading up to my text (after having used Manhattan as my base for 3 months), and I improved my score by 60 points on exam day. Highly recommend!

  238. 4 out of 5

I used the free advice from Magoosh, which was helpful enough that I decided to go with them to get access to a couple more practice exams. My general recommendation would be to use them to help you through the types of questions you find challenging to get the concepts and the tricks down and then a bit before the exam just do the practice tests under test conditions as the timing is the most critical piece.

  239. 5 out of 5

Magoos was key to my success with the GMAT. It is obviusly hard to quantify what part of my GMAT score I owe to Magoosh but before I start using it I was scoring around 600 and my final score was 730. Of course, it was not the only factor. I thought Magoosh was extremely useful due to: 1) great video explanations of all topics (I only checked the ones I had issues with), and 2) so many good exercises was KEY, as the answers were really detailed. It was my biggest source of problems.

  240. 5 out of 5

Magoosh provides a bank of test prep questions that ensures there are no curveballs on test day. Magoosh is general enough that you can determine areas of weakness and specific enough that you can focus on those areas of weakness. I used Magoosh in addition to a personal tutor and found it an essential part of my test prep. If you are looking to supplement a course you are already enrolled in or if you are simply looking for a personal, self-paced way to study for the GMAT, Magoosh is a flexible and powerful tool.

  241. 4 out of 5

Overall it was helpful to follow a guide. The videos to go with each question and section were very helpful. I recommend using this resource, but also doing separate tests of your own.

    Lauren Smith:

Magoosh was wonderful. I enjoyed the instruction, in that I could go at my own pace and re-watch any video clips as needed. It was a very thorough program with examples and instruction for every topic covered on the GMAT. It was also incredibly affordable, unlike many other GMAT prep options.

  243. 5 out of 5

I did my first GMAT without significant review prep and did OK. I wanted to boost my score and took a more popular (and expensive) course and to much to my chagrin, I scored 50 points lower!

I chose Magoosh because it was flexible (the app on my tablet was my morning commute companion) and the lectures were very easy to understand. It broke down step-by-step the quant problems I was having trouble with until I finally got how it all came together. There are lots of sample questions to work with with detailed explanations so you know where you got things wrong.

    Best $99 spent ever!!!

This is the most cost effective and helpful option out there. It walks you through challenging problems and improved my score considerably.

    Ricardo Dancuart:

I work with Magoosh and had an awesome experience. The possibility of choosing what I wanted to practice every day was great. I felt that I could really choose the rhythm that I wanted to work on. Additionally, the videos are very well recorded. The narration is very clear and the thinking structure is also great. I would definitely recommend Magoosh to anyone. However, you have to keep in mind that in order to use Magoosh you have to be very disciplined with your work. How fast you advance is up to you, so keep motivated and you will do fine

    Kimberly Moore:

I found Magoosh particularly helpful for quant preparation. Magoosh’s videos provided simple and clear explanations for each of the quant concepts covered on the GMAT. I also prepared with one of the larger GMAT prep companies and found that Magoosh’s videos were able to breakdown problems and concepts to a basic level and provide key shortcuts or time saving ideas that were more intuitive than what I was provided with other prep courses. Magoosh practice problems were very helpful and reflected the actual GMAT level of difficulty, if not slightly harder, which is great. Towards the end of preparation I did run out of new questions to practice, but was able to go back over questions I’d done early on. I think the study schedules Magoosh provided were also very helpful and suggested the right amount of time, however, you have to be accountable and stick too it, whereas, there may be more incentive with programs where you attend a class in person – personal preference. I did not feel that Magoosh’s verbal preparation was particularly good so I’d say Magoosh is amazing for those who need extra quant help and it is what made the real difference in my quant score, but for verbal you will need to supplement.

  247. 5 out of 5

I used Magoosh as my primary source of GMAT prep, along with a couple of other prep companies. My GMAT prep was entirely self-directed.

Magoosh’s value came from their video explanations of how to solve the questions for both verbal and quant sections. They were really clear and helpful for understanding concepts that I struggled with. They also had a massive bank of questions that could be easily filtered so that I could focus on problem areas.

    Andrew Wu:

I took a couple practice exams through Magoosh and used the verbal sections extensively. The information was very detailed and the teaching methods helped especially for sentence correction. i found the problems representative of the average difficulty of the GMAT exams.

    Daniel Tamasi:

Magoosh is a great help for both math prep and verbal section of the GMAT. Their affordable business model can come in handy for students who are from lower-income countries. One of their best practices are their free online webinar, where they offer a limited resources through live online seminars to address some of the challenges that a test taker can face during the GMAT exam. I highly recommend everyone to keep their eyes opened for discount codes and bundles, because with these Magoosh Prep is bargain products.

The only issue that you might face, using Magoosh is that they encountered some microphone issue during their live seminars.

    Thao Le:

Mike and his staff are wonderful. They get back to you very quickly. His method of teaching is to focus on the basics so you will see that MATH questions are pretty easy compared to other courses. But if you dig in each question carefully, you will find the solutions are very brilliant and time-saving. The promotion code saves you money compared to other test prep.

    Clinton Bowman:

Magoosh was a great on-the-go resource for math prep and verbal quizzes. The content was delivered very intuitively and seemed to really help with my progression. The more formal class work wasn’t too different from what I had experienced with the Manhattan or Kaplan, but both of those platforms are helpful so this isn’t a strike against it.

    Cody Lyons:

I was able to study with a friend of mine also vying to be an MBA, and I couldn’t ask from a simple, fun and challenging offering from Magoosh. They have materials on all sorts of different topics that keep you engaged. Many of these prep sites lack the entertainment factor, which is one of the reasons my friend and I went with Magoosh.

    Justin Lee:

All in all, Magoosh’s online course is a value for applicants seeking to study at their own pace. If you’re unsatisfied with your score, you can continue using Magoosh, which is also an added bonus. The lecture content is insightful, and the clever math tricks that they teach helped me in the quant section. The practice questions are also commensurate with the actual test.

Magoosh has been so helpful when preparing for my test. Their mobile applications make studying easy and convenient, whether taking a break at work or killing time during commercials at night. I am confident in my ability to test and anticipate positive results.

Magoosh has a plethora of resources available at your fingertips. The online tools range from videos, mobile apps, and quick guides. I found the videos the most helpful in preparing for the test. The instructor took the time to review multiple examples and demonstrated how to solve problems from each section. I found this course to cater to my needs and was well suited for the areas in which I needed assistance.

  258. 5 out of 5

Magoosh is a great study tool. The program that they have in place helps you with your weaknesses. It helps to have the ability to watch the videos over and over again. That way if you are studying and get stumped on a problem, you can go back and look: I would not have been able to get the great score I did if it was not for their math program. I highly recommend magoosh.

Overall, I would highly recommend Magoosh to those preparing to take the GMATs. Their website is well made and simple to navigate. The quality of instructions (video lessons) are clear and easy to understand. Their simple explanations make it easy to understand complex topics. They also have a ton of extra materials such as blog, flash card apps and ebooks to guide you through your studies. You can also email them directly with other questions you may have, and I was pleasantly surprised by their quick response times. Their practice questions are also customizable to the type of questions, difficulty and time limits which made is so easy to review and answer practice questions. I went from a 550 to 700 in 4 months!

Overall, I believe that the test prep was very helpful. I liked that the information was detailed with videos. Some of the information was redundant, but I appreciated that it was being reviewed very well. Studying can be incredibly rough when it is for something this important, but I felt well prepared after reviewing with this program. I was also pleased that I found the mobile app and used it often. Thanks!

In total, I think the content was good. The video tutorials were clear, explained well, and helpful. They also mirrored “easy” practice questions. I like that there was a “FAQ” section that accompanied the videos with commonly asked questions. However, the white screen with plain black font (on the tutorials) was not the most pleasing to look at for hours on end and was somewhat boring.

    David Alexander:

Magoosh helped me get back on track towards admission to an elite MBA program. When I first prepared for the GMAT, I thought I had done enough prep through another provider and felt confident. That confidence was shattered when 570 (Q38, V30) flashed on the screen. I almost threw in the towel, but I decided to give it one more go. A friend of mine raved about this product called “Magoosh”, and at first I was really hesitant. I thought wow, this product is really fairly priced and they have a bunch of sales – suspisions grew. Nonetheless, I listened to my friend and purchased a premium package combo with GMATClub exam access.

After watching just a few videos and going through some practice questions with video explanations, I was able to see why some people thrive with Magoosh. I am an AV learning – I learn well when someone explains and shows me how to handle a problem. I do not do well when I work with books or just questions and answers explained in words and numbers. This was the first point of distinction where Magoosh is beyond other products that are out there. There is a video explanation for EVERY practice question. Mike McGary became my virtual best friend – and many of my MLT fellows would joke about how we had Saturday night plans with Mike.

Needless to say, the trust I placed in Magoosh paid off. I was able to earn a 740 (Q49, V41) on my retake. The course emphasizes learning the fundamentals down to the core, and understanding how questions can disguise what is really being asked – if you know the fundamentals well, you can and will do well on the GMAT. As I have said to many of my friends and peers, if I could invest in Magoosh, I would – they are such a solid group of professionals and I couldn’t imagine my GMAT journey without them.

I really enjoyed the Magoosh GMAT program. Previous to trying Magoosh, I used a variety of other programs that i found more difficult. Magoosh has a variety of great videos for every single topic, as well as quizzes. I thought the quizzes could be a little more difficult, but overall, I found this to be the most interactive GMAT prep program.

    Michael Court:

The magoosh training fit me very well. I bought the official GMAT books, but reading the questions and then having to flip to the answers didn’t provide me with as much insight as the video lessons and tests with video answers. I liked that I could set the speed at 1.5x, since I found the presenter to be a slow talker for my taste. I focused on the Quant side since I couldn’t see how the Verbal side would help me that much, and since I hadn’t taken a college math course in 12 years!

One thing that I didn’t realize is that their two practice tests pull questions from the bank of practice questions. I completed all of the practice questions, then took the test, so instead of getting the questions right on the test, I simply “remembered” the answers from before. If I was to do it again, I would take the tests after I finished all the lessons, then I would practice more from the bank of questions.

The questions and tests themselves I found to be more difficult than the actual GMAT. I did not score above 700 on their tests, but I did score a 740 on the actual GMAT.

If you have the official GMAT book, magoosh also offers free video explanations (without having to buy their course) for many of the questions in the book.

Overall, I found it a good, structured way to study, while also being able to tailor my study to my greatest needs.

Magus did a great job of preparing me for the GMAT. I did not have much of a quantitative background besides high school math (algebra, geometry, etc.) and I felt very prepared going in. I followed their short term plan because I decided to go get my MBA a month before the admission deadline. The sentence correction flash cards and math flash cards were also very helpful since they could be downloaded onto my iPhone. I would definitely suggest using Magoosh as a tool to dominate the GMAT

  266. 4 out of 5

The MBA is just another bump in the road one must overcome to achieve their goal. If you take the time out to practice and revise then it can be successfully completed. Magoosh provides its users with review questions, as well as videos to see step by step explanations. Many times just seeing the answer or even the breakdown in a book isn’t enough. Having a voice available to explain why certain procedures are done will give you a better understanding. This is why I enjoyed utilizing the resources offered by Magoosh. It provided me with a number of options to help with my preparation.

  267. 5 out of 5

Magoosh helped raise my score significantly. It is a very intuitive program that I could use at my own pace and learn from my results question by question. I was able to focus specifically on just my weaknesses at times and then take practice GMAT tests when I felt that I had improved.

The pricing was perfect and I actually think they could easily charge more for what is offered. I have already recommended this to countless friends and other students.

    Anna Calvo:

Magoosh provided me the resources I needed in order to prepare for my exam. I was very tense at first hearing the test difficulty, but their website as well as the iphone apps they have allowed me to review and quickly learn how to effectively answer the test questions (as they also have a pattern and format) effectively through their detailed guide. They even have a forum where you can view all the discussions in case you have a particular question in mind that you would like clarified, and they respond promptly. Overall, I am very satisfied with their services and highly recommend them to anyone who needs to prepare for their MBA required exams.

    Alyssa Shelstad:

Magoosh was the most practical, resourceful and not to mention affordable tool I came across while prepping for my GMAT. As someone who learns best by doing, the sample questions, coupled with explanatory videos proved invaluable in helping to identify my learning gaps and turn those gaps into strengths. The customizable practice questions also gave me a real feel for how the GMAT would respond on the day of the test based on my performance. I’ve already recommended this test prep tool to my peers and will continue to do so!

Magoosh is the perfect study tool for those who are interested in preparing independently. The quantitative section is excellent and breaks down each problem step by step. It comes with several study guides that you can choose from based on the time frame you would like to prepare and actually take the exam. The best part to me is the score scale which helps you see your progress. The score I earned on the actual exam was very similar to what Magoosh said I would earn. I recommend this test prep company to everyone.

    Mary Kate:

I was pleasantly surprised by all of the resources offered by Magoosh. The materials helped me think about the test from a different perspective and helped me approach the problems with a fresh and open mind. I was impressed by both their quantitative and qualitative methodologies! Since it had been a while since I had taken any tests, this was just what I needed to get back in the right mindset to take the GMAT. I found, that if I dedicated a set time each day to the materials, it was easier to digest and also to get focused on the task at hand. Magoosh is also littered with little hints like that throughout their reading materials!

    RJ Best:

Magoosh does an excellent job of preparing students for either the GMAT or the GRE tests. One of the nice things about Magoosh is that they explain the differences between the two, and provide many options for studying for both. With so many business schools which currently accept the GRE, it was valuable to know which test would better showcase my strengths and to focus my studies towards doing well on that particular test. All of the information provided was helpful in getting me prepared to take the GRE and get a high score. I would definitely recommend Magoosh to a friend or a colleague!

    Simon Peters:

Magoosh’s materials are easy to use, easy to follow and well presented but there is one big ‘BUT’. The math content doesn’t look like the best available for the GMAT. The content is really well explained – but it isn’t the exact content you need. I spent some 120 hours with Magoosh between my 1st and 2nd attempts at the test and my score stayed flat – exactly flat. After a similar time investment with Kaplan between attempts 2 and 3, I boosted my quantitative score by 9 points (raw) or 60 points (adjusted).

    Nick Rifken:

Magoosh was essential in brushing up on all of the knowledge necessary for tackling the GMAT in both Grammar and Mathematics. They’re schedule study plans and guides as well as online videos were helpful for me in tailoring a schedule that suited my work schedule. I am grateful for the service that Magoosh has provided!

Magoosh is a great tool for test prep with your mba. Make sure to take advantage of the practice quizzes and tests as that is the most helpful. I was able to improve my score in two months of prep by 10% in addition to scoring in the 92% in the IR portion of the test.

    Lara Harrison:

I downloaded the Magoosh application on my iPhone 5s and it was the best decision I ever made! It covered all of the subjects that will be on the GMAT: Verbal, Math, AWA, and Integrated Reasoning. I listened to the lectures on my way to work as well as while I would relax at home and it really helped me. I’m not the best in math, so it was really helpful that the professor broke down the problems: the question, asked you to work on it on your own, told you the common mistakes, gave you the answer and several ways on how to get that answer. It helped me a lot and prepared me for the exam.

  278. 5 out of 5

I found Magoosh really helpful. There are so many practice questions and they are organized nicely by topic, so you can easily focus on your weakest sections. I also found the explanations that accompanied the problems to be helpful in figuring out where I went wrong. Further, Magoosh provided some nice overall strategic hints for test prep, which I definitely used.

Magoosh was an excellent resource for all my studying needs. I used the complete Magoosh subscription along with the official books. In particular, I found the math/quant videos extremely helpful. Magoosh is a very good tool for breaking down complex theories with examples and sample problems. I did not use the verbal section as much, but it was also helpful. I would definitely recommend Magoosh to anyone who is studying for the GMAT. This website was my primary source of studying along with their iphone apps available in the Apple App store. The flashcards were great for when I had a view minutes to study.

    Gregory Johnson:

I took the GMAT twice and the first time I took the test I did not take advantage of Magoosh products. My first test, I only used the official study guide which gave the necessary information but it did not give that information in different ways. I studied for the test originally by reading and doing practice questions. Before I took the GMAT the second time, I realized the best way to increase my score was not just to study more but to change the way I was studying. By alternating different methods of studying, more information can be absorbed and different information will be more easily learned through different mediums. I used Magoosh’s flashcard apps which gave me a way to repeatedly quiz myself and make sure I understood the answer rather than just answering a question and moving on to the next one. The app helped me bring my verbal from 60th percentile to 91st percentile and overall from 600 to 660.

  282. 5 out of 5

Magoosh test prep was the best decision I made in my application process. They provided the best quality example problems that I found and with their score improvement guarantee I walked into the test with great confidence. I was on a time crunch and only used their quick study plan for one month and did 1000 practice problems which gave me more than enough practice necessary to get the scores I was hoping for. Highly recommended.

Magoosh is a great service to learn the basics of the GRE and GMAT. They offer a wide range of questions for both quantitative and verbal sections of the test. In order to fully utilize the resource one will also need to read the magoosh blogs, as they provide a framework for preparing for a test.

    Radu T:

Overall, Magoosh does an amazing job at describing challenging type of questions in the most simple, logical way. I really enjoyed the videos – great source of wisdom just before going to bed.

I liked the structure and the clear takeaways from every individual lessons. Thumbs up for the math review but also for the verbal. The #1 thing that made me give Magoosh 5 stars is the time management advice with the practical planning tool presented in one of their videos.

  285. 5 out of 5

Magoosh was very useful because their videos showed an easy, fast, and sometimes different way to solve problems. As you have to solve every gmat problem in 2 minutes or less, it was encouraging to see all these magoosh videos that lasted less than 2 minutes and that showed how to solve the problem. I started to believe that the gmat was really more strategy than anything else.

    Kyle Dooner:

The best part of the Magoosh software was the in-depth content for the videos when learning the material that was going to be tested on the GMAT. I did not have a good understanding of the material on these videos allowed me to build a strong foundation.

The one issue I had with Magoosh was that the questions were not as detailed as I saw on Manhattan Prep and the actual GMAT test itself. The lack of detail in these questions put me a little behind schedule because the difficulty level was not what I was used to when sticking with only Magoosh in the beginning.

Magoosh is a great study tool for the videos and has a great mobile app but I was not impressed with the layout of practice questions because it did not simulate the real questions you see on the GMAT.

Magoosh is an amazing preparation website that allows you to customize your GMAT preparation in accordance to your skill level. You are allowed access to various test bank questions across maths and verbal. The test bank questions adapt to your skill level and allows you to improve your skill level by practicising various questions.

Magoosh works for self starter regardless of current career. My schedule was flexible enough to be able to attend classes in the traditional route but I wanted to save money and also wanted to go at my own pace. Magoosh has a large set of problems and where they helped the most were with their examples for the correct answer. Their explanations helped me figure out how to answer a question on the GMAT in the allotted exam time. Their questions were on par with the actual test questions and their support was great.

I tried many different software/books to prepare the GMAT, but from all of them Magoosh was the most helpful one. It provides tons of problem of a similar level of the real test, lots of tools to keep track of the progress, and a nice interfaz.

    Surabhi Agrawal:

Excellent prep company. They charge minimally for the services they provide. The videos are straightforward, and helpful because you can manage them at your time and pace (as opposed to going to a class). Their app for vocab words is also helpful!

    Mauricio Hernandez:

This was a very good GMAT prep course. Just as many others in this site I bought it after I took another brick an mortar GMAT course. My first GMAT score was decent, but I knew I could do better. In order to improve my score I searched for several courses that could help me practice and improve my score in a short period of time. Magoosh had at that time a 50 point improvement guarantee so I decided to give it a try. The exercises and explanations where very helpful. I ended up improving my GMAT score by 60 points.

    Mustafa Kammar:

Using the app to memorize the vocab words was helpful , only if you are using it on a long-term plan. Using it in a time crunch would not be that helpful. I recommend using some of these creative ways to understand the vocab section rather than using dry resources.

Magoosh is a good product that is very hands on. I would use it again and have recommended it to people. It was the only product for the ADHD person amongst us. Magoosh doesn’t come with books and packets; but it’s cheap. I got a > 700 score without using any other tool.

    Houston Gossett:

Great option for those that have difficult schedules and need to customize their work plan. I found that it was really helpful to see my progress throughout with their graphs and tracking statistics to help show what areas I needed to work on. The only drawback was that I ran out of questions and I wish there was a way to get additional questions.

    Stephen A Eldridge:

Great value of all the test prep services available and comes with a 50 point score increase guarantee. The verbal prep was particularly good. I also liked how you could mark questions for review at a later date. Magoosh doesn’t come with all the books and prep packets that other services such as Vertias Prep, Manhattan etc. but at $99 the price is hard to beat.

  298. 4 out of 5

I believe Magoosh is a great help for the math part. It gives a lot of tricks and details you need in order to be faster and more accurate in your responses. I believe that there are better resources in the verbal part, but for the results in general, I recommend Magoosh.

Magoosh’s mobile interface is very easy to use and as thorough as their desktop website. The tool is simple to use and there are study schedules that keep you on track with studying.

Quantative section was by far the best and most useful tool in Magoosh’s arsenal.

    Kena Fedorschak:

Magoosh’s excellence stems from the video breakdowns that are provided for practice problems. I struggled with the quantitative section, and spent 95% of my energy working to improve my score. On my initial GMATprep practice test, I scored 88 percentile verbal but only 25th percentile math. Needless to say, I achieved a competitive final score and graduated from W.P. Carey in 2016.

    Brett Ryan:

Two facets of Magoosh’s GMAT prep that really helped me were:

1). The flashcard mobile apps that allowed me to study during my commute, on lunch breaks at work, and during other small pockets of time that otherwise went unused.

2). Their structured study plans (12 month, 6 month, 3 month, 1 month, and two week plans) that allowed me to develop a study plan based on my specific needs (in my case, Quant prep).

  302. 4 out of 5

Magoosh offers greater value and flexibility compared to other programs I shopped and tried. As a working professional who travels frequently, I paid multiples more money for a Manhattan GMAT course, but hated lugging the books with me on trips and often missed the designated class times. I was able to get my score into the sweet spot for my target schools within 30 days. Manhattan is still probably the superior solution for those seeking a 750+ and have 10-20 hours a week to put into prep. Magoosh was a perfect compromise for my needs.

Magoosh was absolutely incredible! I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to study at their own pace. Unlike classroom-based programs, I could study when I wanted to or when I had time with the online program. The practice problems are very similar to the actual test, albeit more challenging, which I liked because it better prepared me for test day. Additionally, the video explanations were excellent and kept me engaged more than a text explanation would.

Magosh test prep materials helped re-familiarize myself with the quantitative part of the GMAT, which I was really nervous about initiailly. After taking my first practice exam, I realized just how helpful the courses were for my preparation.

The courses were very helpful for preparing. I was surprised by how much my test scores improved with this service.
