Target Test Prep GMAT Course Pros:
Best-In-Class for Practice Questions: With their 2,500+ quant practice questions, a TTP course ensures there will be no gaps in your knowledge come exam day. While at times they may drill you on fundamentals in a way that seems excessive, there is no better way to prepare for questions that may appear on the exam. Additionally, with more than 500+ verbal questions covering Critical Reasoning and Sentence Correction are equally probing, and will instill confidence you will need to take the GMAT on test day!

High Quality Video Solutions to Practice Problems: One of the standouts about the course is the quality of the instructor-led video solutions for the practice questions. While many other GMAT prep courses provide explanations for correct and incorrect answers, TTTP instructors break the problems down into their essential concepts with step-by-step strategies presented in sleek, friendly HD video format to help students identify gaps in their knowledge.

Online Expert Support and Options for Private Tutoring: I personally found their live chat helpline to be significantly more useful than those of some other prep providers who offer this service. Also, Target Test Prep maintains one of the better blogs in the space and is full of useful information complementary to the course. Additionally, they offer private tutoring for those who need further help on specialized topics.

GMAT Score Guarantee: Rest assured, if you have a bad exam day and are unable to increase your GMAT Quant score after completing Target Test Prep’s curriculum, you will be eligible for a full refund.

Full Access Trial: TTP offers a five-day full access trial to their complete prep course platform for $1. Free trials from many providers are typically quite limited and rarely allow you to go too deep within any one topic. For just $1, the price of Target Test Prep’s five-day trial is more than worth it as you’ll be able to develop a true sense of whether it’s the right prep course for you.

Exceptional Value with Complementary Verbal Course: Target Test Prep Courses have always been a high-value choice considering their exhaustive instruction and low entry prices. That statement is all the more true today with the introduction of a complimentary, pre-launch Verbal Reasoning course (included in all of their current offerings.

Target Test Prep Cost and Contact Info

TTP offers a one dollar introduction to their services for a period of five days rather than the more traditional 7-Day free trial period often offered by the competition.

When it comes to the actual cost for these quantitative geared programs, following the $1 trial presentation, plans are based on these monthly payment levels such as:

  • 1-month access to the GMAT self-study course: $229

    :

Through the help of TTP, I was able to score a 760 with a 49 on quant and a 44 on verbal. I want to share some details of my journey and explain to you what makes TTP really stand out as a great GMAT prep course

In college, I studied engineering and consider myself to have a fairly strong quantitative background. Before beginning my GMAT preparation I assumed I would need to concentrate my studying on Verbal and would be fine on quant. However, I quickly realized that scoring high on the GMAT requires more than just math and reading skills.

After talking with friends who were currently in business school, I decided I wanted to get serious about taking the GMAT. Listening to their advice on the GMAT, I decided to take a diagnostic mock test to get a baseline score, and I scored 640.
From my mock exam, I realized I not only struggled with certain concepts evaluated but also the question formatting. To start my preparation, I ordered the official guide and worked through problem sets for about 3 months. My preparation mainly consisted of working through OG problem sets and watching YouTube videos on sentence correction as this was a topic I particularly struggled with. As I finished the OG guide, I also took the 6 official practice mock exam. My scores on these exams ranged from 680 to 740, which made me feel fairly confident that I could perform well on the actual exam.

I took my first official online exam after 3 months of studying and scored a 640. After receiving this score, I was quite disappointed but not discouraged. I realized that I lacked a firm understanding of many GMAT concepts and I needed a more systematic approach to my studying.
After the exam, I did research on various test prep companies and found that TTP constantly received great reviews in many GMAT chat forums. I decided to sign up for the trials and then purchased the program and I worked through both the Verbal and Quant sections. It took about 2.5 months to complete the course. I tried to take this very seriously and committed almost all my free time to it, reading all lessons, watching lesson review videos, and completing all chapter quizzes. Typically, I studied 1 hour in the morning before work and 1.5 hours at night. I also spent additional time on weekends

After completing the study portion of TTP, I spent a few weeks working through OG problems and also used the OG advanced book. During this time, I also completed all TTP On Target Tests and Weakest Topics Test, which I found to be a great review of the course content. What I found the most important, however, was to constantly review the TTP study guide and make flash cards which helped to drill important concepts. This gave me a firm grasp of GMAT material so I could quickly recall this information. For example, I would make a flashcard on how to set up a work problem so that if I were presented with such a problem on the test, I could efficiently use my time problem solving and not waste time setting up the problem.

TTP was amazing and exactly what I needed. For Quant, it gave me the tools to tackle any problem the GMAT presented. TTP is often regarded as a great quant prep course. However, one thing I want to highlight is just how comprehensive and effective the verbal preparation is. Prior to using TTP I was practically guessing on many SC questions, however, afterwards I was completing problems sets of advanced OG SC questions with great accuracy and speed. I found it important and useful to re-read chapters on SC and consider taking notes on important concepts you struggle with

There are two main takeaways from TTP and my GMAT prep that I want to share. The first is the importance of having a firm understanding of the concept evaluated by the GMAT. TTP provides you with all the tools you need to excel on the GMAT, and it is important to drill specific concepts so that you can use time efficiently on the exam. One way to truly confirm your understanding of these concepts is to teach someone else. A few days before my exam I sat down with my brother and had him quiz me on flashcards and showed him how I would set up certain problems. This can help make you more aware of your strengths and weaknesses and you may even notice better ways to approach a problem through teaching.

The second takeaway is the importance of mental fortitude when taking the exam. The gmat is more than just a test of certain skills, but also you are operating under a tight time constraint. During my first exam I was really nervous and could feel my heart pounding as the exam began. However, TTP offers an entire chapter on how to mentally prepare for the exam. They go into great detail on how being overanxious can be detrimental to performance and how you can change your mindset through the use of positive mantras. By practicing mental toughness, I became no longer nervous for the exam, but actually was sitting at the test center feeling excited that I was going to score high.

I strongly encourage anyone who is struggling with studying for the GMAT to consider TTP. It is the best structured and most detailed study resource, and I believe I would not have been able to do as well without it.

I have been a Target Test Prep loyalist starting day 1. It’s been my partner through the GRE, the GMAT, and then GMAT Focus. Absolutely never failed me and I was in love with the platform + content. Nobody else let me analyse my mistakes the same way, gave me the depth of solutions that I got from them, and their 8-hour TAT on doubts was insanely helpful. As someone who researched the entire internet for content and platforms before I began, there was nowhere better I’d be. They were also kind enough to give me extensions for a few days sometimes when my exam was close rather than have me go through the full billing cycle, and I can’t say that for any other brand when I say they care about their students. It’s not just for the extra buck, they literally walk you down the path to success.

Target Test Prep (TTP) completely changed the game for me in my test prep. It was recommended to me via an MBA Prep Program I was in (MLT). Beforehand, I was working with other programs as well as in person courses and I did not see an increase in my score. I loved that TTP was self-paced and that I received quick responses if I ever reached for questions. The program also has a great referral program which is a nice incentive! I highly recommend to anyone who would like to work at their own pace and who wants the ability to self-test after learning new concepts. Thanks TTP team 🙂

    :

Target Test Prep is very detailed and explains topics (particularly the old math topics I hadn’t looked at in a while) in a very approachable way. It words questions just like the actual test, and gives you tips on how to best approach. My only complaint is that the sheer amount of material is so dense/overwhelming that for you to do the whole program, I would recommend taking at least 6 months, if not longer. Not sure how practical that is for the average person.

    :

Target Test Prep is a fantastic option for students looking to self-pace! I used it to study for the GMAT across 5 months and achieved a 100-point score increase with a 97th percentile score, something I never thought was attainable before TTP. I loved the flexibility; guided courses; immense trove of practice questions, videos, and tests; and sense of community that TTP offered. TTP is a fantastic value compared to more hands-on tutoring, and the online platform makes learning much more engaging than do traditional textbooks. Overall, highly recommend TTP to anyone studying for the GMAT!

Target Test Prep offers an excellent value for your money by providing an extensive collection of quantitative and verbal study materials at no additional cost. While the course may be challenging to complete, it is highly beneficial in preparing you for the various question types that may appear on the GMAT. Personally, I improved my score significantly from a 520 to a 750 after using Target Test Prep.

As an international student, I struggled the most while preparing for the verbal section. At first, I took online classes in my country. However, I found the teaching method counterintuitive and very soon failed drastically on my first GMAT test. Later on, I discovered TTP and was very impressed by its solid and step-by-step lessons during its free trial. After I subscribed and worked hard for months, I finally got over the GMAT phase. I suggest everyone who is tackling the GMAT find the teaching materials most suited just like how I found TTP.

    :

Target Test Prep is a must for GMAT/GRE/EA Prep, especially for preparing for the quantitative section. Your score will be impacted by how much time you invest into this program. I personally used Target Test Prep for almost a year. It was tough but it ultimately helped me to get the quantitative score that I needed to be admitted to my MBA program. It is totally worth the price!

    :

TTP is an absolutely stellar service, which comes at a cost.

The learning tools are absolutely awesome and are incredibly helpful and well thought out. The only critiques I have for the program is to include more questions that are formatted in the style of the GMAT tests. Most everything in TTP is to develop the fundamental skills, and does not entirely accurately replicate the test question format.

Otherwise, the ~$250/mo rate is pretty steep for what is offered.

Great service, would still recommend if you can afford the cost.

Great program for both quant and verbal! Helped me get a 770 on the GMAT!

    :

TTP was a game changer for me. I scored a 660 two times in a row. I found target test prep and after a few months of sticking to the plan that it created for me, I managed to increase my score to 720, when my target score was around 700.

Fully recommend this tool. I have told all my friends about it and they’ve done a fantastic job at the GMAT as well.

    :

Target Test Prep (TTP) exhaustively covers the quantitative section of the GMAT. It also does well explaining the Verbal section. I love the format and the study plan the course has you follow. There are also tons of practice questions to drill down the material and make sure you are learning it. The course also offers analytics so you can identify and improve on your weak areas, which is an important part of improving your GMAT score. I went from a 560 GMAT score to a 720!! Thank you TTP Team!!

    :

An incredible platform that breaks down the GMAT studying process into manageable and thorough sections. If you want a platform that doesn’t assume that you know everything and strives to teach you absolutely EVERYTHING, then this is your platform. It took me from a 570 to a 690 in 4 months of use. I do not come from a traditional business school background (aka minimal quantitative work), and TTP saved my life when it came to giving me a foundation in quantitative skills.

Their verbal modules still require a bit of work, as it was more mind-numbing and less “fun” compared to their quant modules, but it was still a great course to get some verbal refreshers.

  14. 5 out of 5

    :

TTP was a great resource and had a fantastic staff behind the screen. I began studying for the GMAT at the start of the pandemic and sought out coaching through private tutoring services. After 6 months of using the tutoring service and 3 attempts at the GMAT, I did not reach my goal score or see an increase in points. TTP was recommended by a colleague. I signed up and paced myself using their personalizable guide and saw my Quant score increase by 5 points within three months. I eventually switched to taking the GRE in order to meet my goal score in time for applications. Scott and the TTP staff allowed me to transfer my account over to the GRE platform. I appreciate their flexibility and support!

  15. 4 out of 5

    :

TTP is truly a gold standard for excellence UX design. I found the tool easy to navigate, motivating to use, and true to purpose. The quant portion, as many have said, is robust. The only improvement opportunity is to make more robust the reading section. I am not referring to the rollout, as that understandably takes time. I’m referring to the similarity of questions to those on the actual GMAT. I felt like the logic and approach necessary to do well in TTP was a bit different from that necessary on the real exam, which threw me off.

    Overall I would recommend TTP.

  16. 4 out of 5

    :

TTP helped with the basics of the quant section. I’d recommend.

  17. 5 out of 5

    :

TTP is an excellent resource for GMAT prep, particularly for the quant section. Depending on how much time you have, and how much of a review of basics you need, you can tailor how you use the resource. Personally, I only had a few weeks before my GMAT test date, and used the quizzes to pinpoint my weaknesses and subsequently worked to address them.

  18. 5 out of 5

    :

For Quant, this should be everyone’s go-to GMAT prep. It is lengthy but after finishing the course I was consistently scoring 45+ on quant sections.

The course teaches you in way to understand concepts and then practice. By the time I was taking my GMAT, I rarely went back to studying quant and focused on verbal because of how well prepped the TTP Quant course made me.

Highly recommend TTP for quant, and this is coming from someone who does not consider himself very strong in math.

    I went from a Q30 -> Q47

  19. 5 out of 5

    :

Strongest Quant GMAT prep course that is out there. The program includes exceptionally explained quant concepts and 1000+ questions to practice/review. Additionally, their response rates are fast and concise. I cannot recommend a better GMAT quant prep course and really happy with the support I received from the team. Thank you TTP team!

    :

The TTP program was excellent. When I made my decision to begin applying for grad school, I really didn’t know where to begin for preparation to take the GMAT. TTP’s program was well structured and did a great job building on concepts from previous modules throughout the program. It took me 3 months to go through the full Quant program and helped me increase my GMAT score by 220 points from a cold practice test to my official attempt. The Verbal program was also beneficial for me. Overall highly recommended.

Exceptional program. The program includes exceptional videos describing in-depth how to work through problems. The best part of this program is how they are able to tie everything together during the quant section. Additionally he user interface is easy to use and understand. Through this program I was able to increase my GMAT score by 110 points in two months.

After taking an initial practice exam it was clear to me that I needed a lot of help in the quant section. I initially took a prep course from another company and it was okay – allowed me to bump my quant score up a few points before I flatlined on my progress.

After some research, I came across TTP and it was a total game changer. They provide easy to follow modules in an extremely user-friendly interface that almost made studying “fun”. All the information was explained in the simplest way possible, and this is coming from a below average math student. Simply put TTP is the best resource out there for quant-lacking students and shows proven results. My quant score was in the low 30s and I got it up to the high 40s. Ended up applying and getting into my top choice MBA program.

Don't allow yourself to study for the GMAT for months on end, this can often be counterproductive. Set a stringent timeline and stick to it (4-8 months).

    :

Great experience brushing up on quantitative and math skills. Very thorough, intuitive program that walks you through every step and then quizzes you for retention. I also went through the verbal course that was also helpful, but needed less support in. The course is VERY long, so would plan for a high time commitment but given the pricing, would recommend this course! Ended up scoring a 750 with this program on the GMAT.

Target Test Prep was extremely useful as I reviewed the GMAT material. The module approach worked for my learning style, and I was able to move quickly through to program to firm up some of my shakier areas of quant. In the end, I earned a 760 on the GMAT, and TTP definitely helped.

My advice is to start early -- with test prep, networking with students, school research and essays. Also, admissions consultants make it seem like you can't get in to a top program without them. That is not true.

    :

Target Test Prep is a “back to basis” approach. Every quant and verbal topic is thoroughly explained from the ground level up. Then the software takes you through potentially dozens of practice problems. By the end of the process, answering GMAT questions was almost muscle memory.

Although it takes time, the TTP quant course really helped me to review the quant topics and refresh my memory since it has been ~4 years since I’ve been in school. The interface of the website was also easy to work with, and I would recommend TTP to people who are just starting their GMAT journey.

Target Test Prep was one of the greatest resources that I used to prepare for my exam. I used TTP for my GRE and I was really impressed with the interface, the analytics that were leveraged, and the content itself. I have been recommending it to all of my friends!

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Talk to as many people as you can to get a sense of which school would be the best fit for you. Also, it is crucial to start as early as you can to study for the tests. Lastly, don't forget to schedule some fun during this application process. It is truly a grind and the moments where you are able to take a break and do something you enjoy are valuable and refreshing.

    :

TTP was invaluable to my quant preparation. The cirriculum goes deeper than other prep solutions and does a great job of covering the fundamentals while drilling home practice problems. By the end of each module, you’ll feel super confident in your mastery of whatever topic!

I found the verbal modules too high level to be valuable. However, I took my GMAT when the verbal section was first released, so I’m sure Scott and the TTP team have added and refined it.

    MBA Program & Grad Year:
    TBD, Class of 2024
Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Start early and focus on the GMAT. Once you have a score that you're happy with, shift your focus to your essays. Again, start early on those. I took my final GMAT in June and had the entire summer to focus solely on applications. With the GMAT out of the way early in the process, you can focus on apps and interviews.

    :

Target Test Prep was the best resource I could come across for preparing for GMAT Quant. They cover the basics really well and give you enough practice problems, that you’ll be super confident and calm on the test day. They have a very well developed roadmap for GMAT Quant and you won’t feel lost or left out. The also provide good feedback on your mistakes, which you can easily analyze and improvise on.

    MBA Program & Grad Year:
UW Foster School of Business, Class of 2023
Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Start early and work on your GMAT. Once you're done with that focus on your goals and what you want to do. Then prepare your stories and resume according to what you want to achieve. Make sure you demonstrate transferrable knowledge and skills from your current experience to where you want to reach. Adcom wants to gauge whether you'll be able to find employment after you graduate. So for example, if you want to get into product management (PM), show adcom that you'll be easily able to get a PM job post-MBA based on your work experience. And with the school's MBA, you'll have enough business knowledge to be a great business leader.

    :

I’ve purchased virtually all the GMAT books on the market, and nothing compared to Target Test Prep. I started with the free one-week trial and found it incredibly easy to follow the study roadmap that they laid out. Each of the individual lessons are simple enough to read, yet they provide enough details and explanations so that you thoroughly understand the concepts. In addition, they have online seminars that you can attend to dive even deeper into certain areas (for me, that was statistics!). The course is well-worth the money, as it has all the information, practice tests, and tools you need to be successful on the GMAT.

TTP broke everything down in simple modules that encouraged internalization of each concept. Once I learned a concept, TTP would continue to retest the concept in later stages of the program. This ensured I never lost track of prior lessons. There were no questions on the GMAT that caught me off guard or that seemed foreign to me after completing TTP.

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
First, crush the GMAT. Second, work on your narrative/story. Being able to explain your story - the past, present, and future - is vital in convincing an ADCOM that you are going to be value ad for their program. It is important to reflect on your past experiences and understand how they have shaped you. Understanding this, creating a narrative out of it, and being able to express it is key!

Having used other test prep company’s like Manhattan Prep and The Economist GMAT Prep, I can confidently say that I recommend Target Test Prep (TTP) one hundred percent. Their ability to explain topics is clear and the interactive questions help each student actively learn. I’d recommend reaching out over the help chat should any issues arise because TTP will give honest and fair answers.

I recommend TTP over any other prep company.

TTP is incredibly helpful for applicants who needs to strengthen quant basics; through Scott and Marty’s detailed explanations and videos, I truly believe that anyone can reach their target score if they invest the time and effort. The variety and difficulty of the questions that I saw were practically identical to the actual test. Though I used the program before Verbal was fully introduced, I did use Verbal Beta for a few weeks and had a really good experience with Sentence Correction. Overall, TTP does a great job of 1) combining the introduction of new concepts in a digestible progression and 2) going into minute detail in each concept. Highly recommend!

I recommend giving yourself adequate time to research schools and various programs before you put pen to paper and start applying to schools. Research for me included numerous (virtual) coffee chats with current students and alumni - this helped me narrow down the list of schools I wanted to apply to. In parallel, I tried to really introspect and work backwards by asking myself 1) where do I want to be in 5 years, 2) why an MBA will help me get there, and 3) why I need one now. This process not only validated my desire to pursue an MBA but also helped me tremendously with the application process. Last but not least, I recommend getting the GMAT out of the way early! The entire application process can almost be a full time effort, and doing so while working an actual full-time job may sometimes be overwhelming.

I truly wish I had found Target Test Prep earlier! The platform and pace of it all allowed me to pick up on my weak spots and spend focused time on problems I needed more help on. Timed quizzes and the combination of practice problems and exam sets gave me the push I needed to skip my strengths occasionally so that I can improve my weaknesses. In the end I raised my Quant from 42 to 47. With more time I’m confident I could’ve gotten it up even higher.

The first resource I will tell incoming applicants to find is TTP so that they can get their GMAT scores up higher earlier.

*TTP Helped Me Increase My Score by 430 Points!!! (350 – 780)*

I can hardly believe that before discovering TTP my highest score was 350. I’ll put it this way: Target Test Prep is the equivalent of the best teacher I’ve ever had, but with on-demand availability.

I found TTP through the subreddit r/GMAT. Of course, I was curious; and I saw the responses with glowing reviews and thought there had to be a catch. After researching, I decided TTP might be worth a shot. From the moment I started studying with TTP’s software, I was amazed by how simple and fun their program was. They made jumping into studying effortless and as painless as possible.

In some weird way, their module system spoke to my level of understanding. After every module, there are a bunch of tests that scale up based on difficulty. So, when you’ve finished the module, you can complete it knowing that you’ve mastered the subject at the end. I rarely was left with any questions after mastering the subject.

Working through TTP felt more like a game than a study software. The tests on each module had a difficulty scale, so I could challenge myself without getting frustrated. My study habits were not the best, and one of my major problems was trying to get ahead of myself. TTP’s software would gently nudge me back on course whenever I attempted to skip ahead to later material. It helped me stay motivated and kept me accountable. I found this so helpful.

The features that helped me the most:
1- The diagnostic exam which showed me where I was currently. They let me set a “mastery” goal that helped me stay on track and see how I was progressing.
2- The ActiveReview sheets. I found these study sheets to be incredible, as they came customized with my desired score in mind, and I could fill them in with all my notes.
3- The Must Knows. I can’t tell you how many times I went back to the ‘Must Knows’ because they did such a great job of summarizing the lesson’s content.
4- The examples and the comprehensive explanations. In the modules, there are questions of various difficulty levels, and when you answer them, you don’t know how they’re ranked. What was great about this was that, after I answered the question, I would get an explanation of how to solve the problem in both a written format and a video. We all have different learning styles, and this feature was something that none of the other resources I used really offered. I love, love TTP’s short video explanations.

Their team was highly approachable and available to answer all of my questions. Even after completing the software, they still reached out to see how my application process was going and followed up on how I was doing with testing. Everyone at TTP was highly involved and incredibly kind to me.

I wish I had found Target Test Prep sooner. It would have saved me a lot of money, time, and prevented the frustrations I felt along the way. It changed the way I studied, the methods I used, and the confidence I felt when it came to taking the GMAT. TTP is the real deal!

Target Test Prep was extremely helpful in refreshing the quantitative skills I needed to get into my first choice school, and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I had a quantitative undergraduate degree, but after taking a GMAT mock exam it was clear I would need some studying to get the 700+ score my school of choice would likely require. Target Test Prep easily explained each concept, and taught me to think through calculative processes in new ways that made questions much easier.

Further, the curriculum is laid out in a way that facilitates easy and consistent progress. It steadily introduces new concepts while building upon foundational knowledge from previous chapters.

Ultimately, this comprehensive experience helped me add over 100 points from my mock exam to my first official exam.

Pulling together my CBS application was time consuming, but ultimately very fulfilling as this was my first choice school. I have a deep appreciation for Columbia's status in New York City as well as the greater financial services community, and tried to let that show through in my essays. I also was fortunate to network with alumni and hear what made their experience so great, and what makes the culture at the school so unique. Alumni consistently spoke to the school's location in the center of business, the deep connections among student clusters, and the quality of the faculty. In short- the three pillars of career, academics, and community. All of this was extremely useful in pulling together thoughtful and genuine essays, as well as connecting really well with my interviewer.

I started with Magoosh and did not take my studying as seriously as I should’ve. I got a 640 and only a Q40. I knew that I was capable of a much higher quant score but I needed some serious structure. TTP is the only way I feel that I could’ve gotten the boost I needed in quant. The application process is a reflective one. It will make you review your life and accomplishment and at the same time plan for the near future. Find out what you want the most in a school - location, top school, recruiting, diversity - all of these are important but the weights will vary from person to person. So seek out the school that has a good mix of what you want. And don't be afraid to apply the third round. Sometimes we disqualify ourselves from certain schools before even trying, please don't do that - go for it! The worst you would hear is no, and that's good because "No" is feedback and that is much better than"what if". Also, research the schools before applying. Your essays will show this. Most schools just want to know that you want to come to their school. Infuse elements learned from your research in your essays. Talk about classes or school traditions you want to take part in (this should match the theme of your essay of course). Show that you already picture yourself as one of them! Researching includes - desktop research, talking to current students, coffee chats with alumni, etc. Lastly, when you get into school, take charge of your MBA experience. Be clear about what you want and the path you want to take. Be open to advise, but remember it's your decision to make not theirs. Best of luck!

    :

My GMAT journey began in May 2019 and, like the majority of students of the GMAT, started with the purchase of the Official Guide, a ‘thorough’ review of Quant section of the material and then a dive straight into the Official practice questions. It is worth mentioning that I am a classically trained linguist and have a solid grasp of grammar and reading comprehension so my ability to score highly in the verbal section of the exam was not in question at this early stage. To provide some context as to my revision schedule, I work in banking and have fairly long hours so my studying midweek consisted of an hour and a half before work (5.00-6.30am) and then two hours after work (9.00-11.00pm), with a solid six hours on both Saturday and Sunday.

I was confident that I understood the theory behind all of the maths being tested and my review of the Official Guide material reassuringly felt like a reminder of concepts I had grasped well at school at school at age 16. When it came to tackling the practice questions, however, including the added element of time pressure, my accuracy was hovering around 50% with only marginal gains as a few weeks went by. I am also fairly confident that any improvement I was making was largely a reflection of question recognition and getting to grips with the question types. After a month of aimlessly trawling through the Official Guide question bank in the hope that the sheer quantity of material and hours spent at the computer would somehow translate to an absorption of knowledge, I realised that my study required more focus and I perhaps did not have the deep understanding of the material that I had convinced myself I had.

At this point, I did my research on GMAT Club to read reviews of other peoples’ experiences with revising for the GMAT and was reassured to find that I was not alone in finding myself at a loss as to why the information simply was not ‘going in’ and the hours spent revising were not being converted into any improvement. The name that kept popping up again and again as being the most comprehensive review of the Quant material was Target Test Prep. I tried the demo for $1 and was immediately struck by how slick and user-friendly the interface was (which is not to be underestimated having tried some of its clunky competitors).

I purchased my first full month midway through June and set to work on making my way through the course. Everything about the course resonated with me, especially the strategy guide that goes into great depth about the importance of active learning, rather than hoping to assimilate information from watching Youtube tutorials and practising endless questions. These certainly have a place in learning, and I learnt a great deal from watching hundreds of Youtube videos, but these should be used to supplement rather than replace the note taking and methodical study required to score highly on the GMAT. I found that the odd Youtube tutorial from GMAT Club or a TTP webinar helped to break up the monotony of pure theory-based learning and I cannot overstate the importance of enjoying the learning process for the GMAT. The TTP course certainly helps in this regard and I was thoroughly enjoying the satisfaction of passing from one topic to the next. There were points when I felt that the end of chapter tests ‘dragged’ a bit and in all honesty there were points where I passed over certain module tests to get to the next chapter to feel like I was making progress. In hindsight, the repetition of material is what makes TTP so relentlessly effective as a learning tool and in order to get the most out of the course, as Scott often says, you need to understand everything so well that recognising what each question is asking becomes habitual and instinctive.

After a month and a half or so of studying the course, I found myself becoming too lax on timing and focused on accuracy to the detriment of speed. While the former is more important in the early stages, I had started pausing questions that I did not fully understand and had started to lose the discipline of timing. I also took this approach on my first couple of GMAT Prep CATs, giving myself the false confidence that it was more important to understand how to do each question correctly rather than simulate accurate test taking conditions (the strategy section of TTP has some quality material on how to approach practice tests – I was too stubborn to take full heed of this to begin with!). I was scoring very highly in the Official practice tests (730+) and had convinced myself that I was ready to tackle the real thing. I booked a test for the end of September, after a two week holiday, during which I revised about 2 hours per day to ‘maintain’ my ability, and had not touched the TTP in the month prior to the exam. I didn’t feel like I needed the course anymore and I had got everything out it. I was wrong.

Going into the exam, I was expecting a score of 720+, which is the required average of some of the schools to which I was intending to apply. Despite doing lots of research of the test centre and what to expect, I was incredibly nervous going into the exam and was feeling a significant amount of pressure having spent a solid four months revising in earnest. The real test felt significantly harder than the practice tests and I was feeling the time pressure more than any of my ‘practice’ tests. I was so afraid of running out of time that I found myself bailing on questions too early when a further 20-30 seconds of investment in each question would have enabled me to tackle questions which I really knew should have been getting right. I knew as I was taking the test that it was not going well and was shellshocked to see a score of 650 pop up on my screen at the end. I collected my paper as I left the exam centre to see a Quant score of 45 and a verbal score of 34 – both were incredibly disappointing and unexpected. (Q45, V34, I6, AWA 6)

Fortunately I had booked a second test well in advance to anticipate the upcoming application deadlines so only had to wait 2 weeks before re-attempting. My concern, which was totally valid, was how on earth I was going to improve my score so significantly to over 700+ in such a short period of time. Furthermore, in my mind I had completed the TTP course, finished all of the GMAT Prep practice tests and watched every YouTube video under the sun. I was at a loss as to where to start and became incredible despondent. Nevertheless I sucked it up and now divided my study 50% between verbal and quant because clearly my verbal needed more work that I had arrogantly led myself to believe. On the quant side, I revisited my notes and went straight back into the Official practice tests because it is easier to keep practising questions rather than assess and address your weaknesses. These two weeks were intensive but unfocused and I was confident that my second attempt would benefit from less exam anxiety, given that I knew what to expect, and attributed my poor first result to nerves.

I took my second exam midway through October and, despite being less nervous, scored a 670 (Q44, V39, I5, AWA 6). The exam felt equally difficult to the first and I was again at a loss as to why the additional 50+ hours of work had only translated to an improvement of 20 points. Not only that but despite my verbal score increasing, my quant score had regressed! At this point, I knew something had to change because I couldn’t keep expecting that the same approach to revising would somehow produce a vastly different result, especially given that again I only had a further three weeks until the third test that I had booked in anticipation of a repeat of last time.

I decided to revisit the TTP course to address my weaknesses and contacted Jeff Miller from TTP to discuss a short term study plan to optimise my revision over the three week period. He sent me a very well-thought out study plan (simple but focusing on quality over quantity) and we discussed the possibility of one-to-one tuition. After a week of independent study, I got in touch with Jeff to update on my progress and we booked in a private 1 hour Webex session to start with. We established that I understood the vast majority of the concepts tested very well, it was now a matter of arming me with the confidence to tackle questions under time pressure that I knew I was capable of answering. There was nothing drastic or magic about Jeff’s teaching, or TTP course for that matter, in the same way that there is no secret formula to scoring highly on the GMAT. I was introspective about what I didn’t know as well I should and we addressed each and every one of those topics. In total, I had about 8 hours with Jeff and we covered all of the areas with which I had previously struggled. After each session with him, I continued to practice the concepts we went through and found additional practice questions on GMAT Club to hone these skills. I actually revised less between second and third exam than I had between the first and second and yet something had clicked and I went into the third exam far more confident of my abilities. My mindset was now one of ‘there is no way I can come out of this exam centre without score above 700’.

I took my third test on 1 November and scored a 720 (Q49, V40, I7, AWA 6). I cannot explain the relief as the score flashed up on the screen and my first reaction was to tell Jeff. Despite not having spent a great deal of time studying with him, I felt that he was now an important part of my journey to achieving that score. Without the foundation that the months poured into the TTP had built, I would not have been able to achieve my score improvements between exams. I cannot recommend the TTP course highly enough and I believe that if I had followed the course to the letter and taken my first test shortly after completing the course, I would not have found myself having to take the test three times to achieve the score I did. Furthermore, I genuinely believe that the 8 hours I spent with Jeff took my GMAT study to another level, if not in terms of ability then certainly in terms of confidence and approach to the test. While the virtual nature of the TTP course is incredibly convenient and well thought out, there is something to be said good old fashioned live teaching.

The modules were super clear and easy to use. They definitely helped me raise my quant score on the GMAT exam.

By breaking down each section, I was able to identify the areas in which I was weakest and drill those areas to improve.

I would definitely recommend TTP to anyone who is nervous or anxious about the quant section of the GMAT

I highly recommend the GMAT prep offered by Target Test Prep. I was already studying Quant for a couple of months but I was lacking some of the basics because the last time I used them was already a couple of years ago (classical situation). I needed a structured course that led me through everyhting I need to know to ace Quant and TTP offered just that. I highly recommend it for everyone who needs a comprehensive prep from scratch. I tried a number of other Quant Preps as well but TTP was the best one for sure. What I also enjoyed about it was the very professional user interface (believe it or not, when you spend so many hours with it these things actually are important). Together with GMAT Club Tests this is the only Quant Prep you need to achieve Q50/51.

I went from an overall score of 670 to a 700. My quant went from a 39 to a 44. The program is affordable, the coursework is logically organized, comprehensive, and the videos provide detailed explanations of how to solve every type of problem you will encounter on the GMAT. The program covers just about every type of problem you will see on the GMAT quant section. I only took one math class in college, and I majored in Chinese, so if I can understand the material well enough to improve my quant, anyone can. If you follow the program as it is designed, your quant score will improve.

Target Test Prep was essential in taking my Quant score from a 45 to a 50, as I brought my score from a 730 to a 780. I used multiple prep sources for my first exam, but felt like they were too focused on solving problems rather than learning concepts. After over 100 hours studying, I had barely improved and was hopeless on high difficult questions. Target Test Prep’s format started with basic GMAT concepts and gradually built on each one. By the end I felt I comfortable recognizing what was being tested and effectively applying the tools to solve questions quickly and accurately. TTP’s wealth of varying difficulty practice tests and analytics helped me identify and address weakness as I progressed.

TTP online software is a fantastic way to boost your score in only a short period of time. I came to TTP after first using another program’s study materials unsuccessfully, and immediately found that I learned faster and easier using Target Test Prep. The difference was in the analytics that track your time spent, success rate, and difficulty of each question – making it very easy to hone in on your weaknesses and improve them. I’d highly recommend TTP to anyone with an average score that wants to get above a 700, or anyone that was disappointed with the GMAT prep company that they used initially and is looking for a different offering.

Target Test Prep is ideal for self-study, showing you exactly where your weaknesses lie within each subtopic. Other programs may be more suitable as a complement to tutoring or in-person classes, as these programs tend to give a broader overview of topics. Within Target Test Prep, you can tackle topics and subtopics in a time-frame that fits your schedule, which could be 5 minutes one day or 2 hours the next. Jeff and Scott are both great teachers who really know their stuff and have put together a very straight forward yet comprehensive online platform that really enhances your ability to drill on specific subjects.

Before working with Target Test Prep I had taken an in-person course with Manhattan Prep where I had a good teacher in my class but felt that I needed more one-on-one assistance. The private sessions with the instructor Manhattan had set me up with were awful as the person just repeated the same basic tactics I had learned in class instead of working with me to learn my strengths.

Working with Jeff was a 180 from my experience with the Manhattan tutor. Jeff really paid attention to how I worked through problems and would deviate from the tactics they teach when he felt I would benefit from it. It was also clear that Jeff had a great understanding of what its like to take the exam and the type of questions that will actually appear on the exam because he is has taken it numerous times just keep up to date on what GMAC is doing.

I also can’t say enough about the studying platform that Jeff and Scott have put together. One of my biggest pet peeves with using Manhattan’s online platform was that you couldn’t construct short practice sets online across various subjects to simulate working through questions on the actual exam.

If you are looking for a way to hone in on your quant skills and work through problem sets you won’t be able to find elsewhere I highly recommend starting up a Target Test Prep subscription and working with Jeff and Scott one-on-one.

Target Test Prep is your best option to study for GMAT quant especially if you plan to self-study. I was able to increase my quant score from 42 to 49 in just 1 month. Their study plans are tailored to whatever time and goals you have. I realized during their 5 day trial, how much time and money I wasted with other test prep materials.

Having studied and taken the GMAT before, I decided to self-study this time. After studying on my own for 3 months with Kaplan and Manhattan GMAT, I was fairly confident I could get my target score. The week leading up to the test, I started to stress and doubt if I was ready to take the test because my quant score was not where I wanted it to be. It was during that time that I read about TTP in a post on Beat the GMAT. I used TTP’s 5 day trial for some extra practice before test day. On test day, I ended up scoring a 100 points lower than my previous score.

I decided to retake the test one month later in order to have time to apply to my top schools by R2. I really liked what I had seen on TTP during the trial and decided TTP was my best option to increase quant in such a short period of time. I followed TTP’s short term study plan 95% of the time. TTP provides so many questions to practice each concept that I was able to identify the type of question and how to approach it before I was done reading the question. Their analytics tool was really helpful in showing me which areas I understood well and which areas I should spend some more time reviewing. After that 1 month, I knew I would score better on quant.

During the actual test, I was completely comfortable with every quant question. I never felt like the questions were too hard to answer. I believe that because I practiced over 1500 questions, I just knew how to approach the questions without any trouble. A lot of the questions looked easy but I was able to catch hidden tricks because of all the practice questions I did. TTP helped me reach my goal of 720!

You can’t go wrong studying with TTP. It will be the smartest investment you will make in your b-school journey.

I highly recommend Target Test Prep as a GMAT study program, for a variety of reasons. The website itself is extremely user-friendly, and all of the content is contained there, so instead of lugging textbooks around, you can simply log in from anywhere and continue studying. The content is organized, comprehensive, and as simple or challenging as you need it to be, depending on where you are in your preparation. You can design your own practice tests, and get some detailed analytics on where your weaknesses are, and what you need to focus on. I also did one-on-one tutoring with Jeff Miller, which made a world of difference. Jeff became more than just a tutor to me, he became a sounding board, and a friend, and I truly appreciated having him to lean on during the GMAT process. The guys at Target Test Prep truly care about their product, and they care deeply about their students’ success. I highly recommend TTP, regardless of where you are on your GMAT journey.

I started my GMAT studies using Manhattan Prep materials and on-demand course. It helped me to increase my quant & verbal scores up to one point. Then, I hit a plateau and started to wonder what I was doing wrong since I couldn’t get to my target score. I’m so glad that I’ve come across Target Test Prep course. I was a bit skeptical in the beginning and I decided to take a trial course instead. Having previous experience with another GMAT prep course, I quickly recognized how this content material was different and more comprehensive compared to others. This is a web-based learning platform and I found it very easy to use and quick to adapt – there’s even a dashboard to keep track of your studies and practice. Also, there was no shortage of practice exercises per sections and it helped me tremendously to improve my weak areas. I took private lessons with Jeff Miller, a top notch instructor, who gave me valuable insights in how to tackle tough GMAT questions using a systematic approach. In the end, I was able to increase my GMAT score in 100-point after 5 weeks of study. Therefore, I highly recommend Target Test Prep course.

I’ve used just about every GMAT prep curriculum out there and nothing comes close to that of Target Test Prep. There is no fluff in the Target Test Prep material. It is simply straightforward GMAT concepts broken out by topic, and each topic immediately gets to the meat of what you need to know. There is nothing as good as TTP – period.
In addition to using the TTP Quant course, I met with a TTP tutor every few weeks for supplemental instruction. He focused me on the most important concepts (where I would see the most profit). My quant score went from 44 to 48 within a few short months. I ended up with a 720, which was 20 points beyond my goal! If you’re studying for the GMAT, do yourself a favor and use TTP. You will not regret it.

I whole-heartedly recommend the Target Test Prep Course. Prior to working with Jeffrey Miller, my tutor from Target Test Prep, I had worked with tutors from both Kaplan and Veritas. The other tutors managed to help me bring my score up slightly, but it was nothing as rigorous as Jeffrey’s systematic approach, which increased my score by 110 points in a matter of 5 weeks. First, a bit about my background. I’m foreign-born and a non-native English-speaker. I was raised in Brazil, where standardized exams differ greatly from those in the US. The GMAT was the first test in which I’d ever been timed so strictly, and it was an incredibly stressful experience for me. Also, I physically reside in Japan, so I needed someone who had a system to work with me remotely, via Skype or some other method. Finally, although English is a second language for me, I was testing consistently higher in the verbal portion than the quantitative portion of the GMAT. I needed a good tutor who could address all of these issues. I found Target Test Prep online with a simple Google search. Like I mentioned, I’d worked with a few tutors previously, so I sort of knew what I was looking for. What immediately attracted me to Target Test Prep was its systematic approach to tutoring. What I mean by that is the Online GMAT Math Self-Study Course provides a strong foundation for the quantitative section of the GMAT. It is incredibly thorough and fills any knowledge gaps in all sections of the actual exam. This was a critical element that made the course so effective. Other tutors have good advice, good shortcuts, but none of the ones I worked with had a systematic approach to learning. My approach: I used a combination of the Target Test Prep Online GMAT Math Self-Study Course and the quant tutor, Jeffrey Miller. The course is set up for the user to methodically review GMAT quantitative material by topic – such as number properties, geometry, coordinate geometry, etc. Since I was short on time, Jeff helped me strategize – I took a diagnostic test, using Target Test Preps online course, and selected topics that needed the most work. I would read each chapter, do a practice test, and each week review questions I had with Jeffrey. During our tutoring sessions, Jeffrey used a combination of a white board and Skype; I was concerned that this system may be cumbersome but I found that it was actually quite effective. Through this process – 1) study a topic; 2) take a practice test on the chapter; and 3) review with the tutor – I was able to comprehensively cover most of my weak areas and fill in knowledge gaps. I’d like to take a minute to talk about the software – the “Target Test Prep Online GMAT Math Self-Study Course.” I think it’s worth mentioning because it was an absolute essential part of my course package. My understanding is that it was developed by Scott Woodbury-Steward over a period of several years. It is a very flexible software program that allows you to test yourself on various topics with varying levels of difficulty. The questions are very similar to actual questions one would see on the actual GMAT. This was my foundation to learning quant topics – I spent 2-3 hours on this program a day and found my math skills improve significantly in a matter of 5 weeks. This is what separates Target Test Prep from other GMAT Prep packages – there is nothing else out there like it, believe me, I searched. I have many quant books and the material covered in those don’t even begin to compare to the depth of content displayed in the software. Lastly, I’d like to highlight Jeffrey’s teaching style. He was patient, thorough, and most importantly, really helped to develop my confidence. He was always positive, even when I wasn’t, and anyone who’s taken this exam knows that half of it comes down to being confident when you walk in the room on test day. Although very subjective, this should not be overlooked, and Jeffrey really helped in this respect. My target was in the mid to high 600s – I jumped 110 points in exactly five weeks and hit my target. It was a grueling process – about 20 hours of studying and 3 hours of tutoring per week. But if you’re going to put that kind of time into this endeavor, then it’s worth every penny to hire the right people to get you there. A combination of my perseverance and Target Test Prep tutoring allowed me to hit my target. Thank you guys!

By the time I decided to go back to grad school, I only had 1 month before the application was due for the coming Fall term. Before this, I never took the GMAT exam nor had I studied for it. I quickly ran to the closest book store and grabbed the self-teaching GMAT guides to start my journey. After one week of looking through material I have not seen for the last 10 years, I knew I was going to need some help studying for this exam in only one month. After visiting a few local tutoring businesses and searching online, I finally came across Target Test Prep. At first I was questioning the online format instead of a live tutor, however I could not have asked for anything better! After learning more about the services I quickly contacted Target Test Prep and was set up with a tutor. My tutor presented the information in a manner that was clear, concise, and completely tailored to what I needed in that 4 week time frame. He provided me with the exact structure and expertise I was looking for in a GMAT tutor. I also used the Target Test Prep self-study course and I can honestly say it was better than any of the other competitors. The clarity and detail in the writing as well as the user friendly interface allowed me to efficiently study in between tutoring sessions. After only 4 weeks of work with Target Test Prep, I was able to not only blow past my goal score but to also exceed the admissions average set by my University. I could not have asked for anything more from Target Test Prep. For anyone who is taking the GMAT, I would highly recommend using this service!

After taking a big name GMAT course and not scoring what I wanted on the GMAT, I decided to look into private tutoring. I began working with Target Test Prep, and after working together for 3 months, I raised my GMAT score 90 points. It was money and time very well spent!! I highly recommend Target Test Prep. Additionally, Test Prep has their own GMAT math self-study course, which is an incredible resource that I used in between my tutoring sessions. On top of that, the one-on-one sessions with my tutor cut to the heart of the material quickly and efficiently. My tutor not only helped to improve my quant skills but he also offered me realistic advice about my approach to studying and my expectations.

I completed a full Manhattan GMAT course and only scored a 40 in Quant (670 total) when I took the test for the first time. I improved significantly from the beginning of the course in Verbal but was extremely frustrated with my lack of improvement in Quant, even though I focused my studying heavily on the Quant section. I stumbled upon Target Test Prep and read a number of Target’s testimonials of people who were in a similar situation and used the site to significantly improve their Quant score. I decided to give it a try and was immediately impressed by the thoroughness of the curriculum. The curriculum walks you through all of the basics, a strategy for solving each type of problem and all of the various ways the subject may appear on the GMAT. The amount of material was overwhelming at first but the curriculum is brilliant in how simple it makes difficult questions seem as it walks you through each step. They also offer a huge library of practice questions on each subject, with explanations for each one. I also complemented my independent study time with tutoring with TTP, which was a huge help to keep me moving along and highlight key points. I exclusively studied the Target curriculum and practice questions and did tutoring for 5 weeks before taking the GMAT again and improved my Quant score to 48 (730 overall). I couldn’t believe how much I was able to improve in such a short period of time.

I had an excellent experience with Target Test Prep when studying for my GMAT in 2015. I worked specifically with this company on the Quant section of the exam and found their proprietary online educational tools extremely useful. This was the best preparation I found for the Quant section, even better than Manhattan GMAT books.

You need to give yourself time to think about your cohesive story - where you've been, why an MBA, why this school's MBA, and what you will do afterward. That may sound obvious, but so many people miss the mark in their applications and have unclear or uninspiring stories. This comes across in your essays and makes your application less human and interesting to the admissions committee.

Target Test Prep in breaking down the quant sections of the test I should be worrying about then further breaking those sections down into chapters highlighting the different types of problems and concepts you WILL see on the GMAT. Through the practice quizzes and test I was able to identify my weak quant areas and supplement them with the TTP readings.

My advice is to get your GMAT out of the way by June and apply Round 1. Round 1 is the only round that matters, especially for top 3. No matter what they tell you,
