Veritas Prep is the best GMAT prep due to their comprehensive study materials, experienced instructors, and personalized approach that helps students achieve their target scores.

Great service and helped me score well on my EA test. Just found out I was accepted to my top choice school!

    :

I decided to go with the self study route when preparing for my GMAT. As I did more research, it became clear to me that Veritas offered a lot of great tools at a reasonable price. I was able to purchase the Veritas practice exams and problem sets. This really helped me to prepare for my exam. The answers were clear and provided me with great insight. I did very well on my GMAT and was admitted into my dream school (USC)

I took Anthony’s class twice (September 2021 and January 2022). I learned so much from him and the Vertias program. I would highly recommend it!

    :

I used the free practice exam on Veritas to prepare for taking the GMAT. It’s computer adaptive, so definitely helps to recreate the environment experienced during the real test. Great addition to a study plan for anyone who wants to get as much exposure to questions as possible without having to pay.

I took the live, online classroom instruction with Travis. I found it very helpful in improving my score.

    :

Overall it was an amazing prep for the GMAT. My online class was very small and personal. My instructor, Travis, was fantastic. Incredibly patient and gave some great tips on how to excel come test day. For practice, there were hundreds of questions to choose from. My only frustration was that some of the questions did not necessarily get formatted correctly and looked quite different from actual GMAT questions.

While getting a good score on the GMAT is important, make sure that you spend enough time getting your resume and essay questions ready. When choosing schools, definitely talk to current students and get a feel for personality of the student body as so much of your experience will come from your interactions with your classmates.

Overall, great program with fantastic resources. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because I felt like a significant amount of additional prep was needed after the course. Would still recommend!

Have hypotheses regarding what you want to accomplish before, during and after business school. Be open to new paths, but stay true to yourself in the application.

  9. 5 out of 5

    :

In a nutshell, my review of the Veritas Prep Course (in person classroom) deserves a 4.5/5 rating. Overall, it was very productive to my learning and the tutor made efforts to make the class engaging, productive, and fun. The course helped me to look at the test problems from different angles, taught us about the different approaches depending on the problem/question type, and also taught us valuable insights to break-down seemingly difficult problems when the reality was that they were more straight-forward.
A lot of weight rides on the tutors to make the Prep Course useful, but in my experience and few others that I have spoken with, the experience has been very positive, engaging, and productive. I can recommend this program to anyone.
Lastly, the only reason why I take away half a star is because of the natural environment of having a shared class. There can always be some room for improvement to personalize certain aspects of the course based on personal need.

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Take time to understand why you want an MBA and when it is the right time to pursue it. You will find many different reasons of getting an MBA in the classroom, and all may be valid points, however the decision is a personal one that must be in line with your own goals. It's never too early to start researching about the different MBA programs and which one would feel like a good fit. Start early. The more comfortable you are with yourself and telling your story in the application, the better it will go. Also, the GMAT is not everything admission officers see in the application.

I took the live, online classroom instruction with Travis. It was engaging and tremendously helpful for my study habits and test taking strategy, especially for a test like the GMAT, which is highly strategy dependent.

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
It is never too early to start. Focus on the GMAT first to give yourself a good idea of what schools to target and time to re-take if necessary. The entire application should tell a story. Use the different pieces to amplify and synch with each other. Talk to current students to get a sense of your cultural fit. Go somewhere that has a good reputation for the specific discipline or career you are trying to leave the MBA with and go to a school in the city or region you want to be in after.

    :

This is complicated for me as I initially did the GMAT classroom and found it to be very helpful, but then also pursued some one-on-one tutoring sessions that were not nearly worth their value. The most important piece of preparing for the GMAT is having a system that helps you better organize the subjects to better understand the questions. If this is something you need help with, the class is a sufficient option. However, it’s no necessary for everyone and is not always worth the cost.

If you can, reverse engineer your school choices after you have the clearest idea of what you are looking to do upon graduating. You can never start early enough, so even if you're on the fence now, start researching now! I had planned to apply for round 1 and because of unexpected events in life, I applied to only one school in round 2 and 4 other programs in round 3. Just know that it will likely be more of a marathon than a sprint. Best of luck to you all!

Veritas Prep has a phenomenal GMAT preparation course. I took the virtual class with Anthony after trying the self paced work by myself for a while. The class was extremely useful and helped me to better grasp different approaches to the many problems the GMAT showcases. I highly recommend doing a virtual class and really taking the time to prep for this exam. It will pay off.

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
I recommend really thinking about the approach to what an MBA can do for your career. Do you need the elite name on your resume? How hard of a worker are you? This is important if you feel that you can take more risk on yourself and go with a school that isn't quite the most elite because you know that you can find all the resources and take advantage of it all. Really take the time to understand who you are and what you are looking to accomplish. If you feel the elite school is worth it, then take that with you and prep like that's the experience you truly want (and don't let anyone talk you out of that!). You can do it!

This is a good program. Solid overview of the test and drills all the basic subjects needed. With that being said I wish they emphasized strategy a bit more.

The GMAT isn't the only thing they'll look at. Make sure you get multiple people to read your essays and resumes. Also try to speak to someone in admissions--they may be able to give you advice and what you should focus on in your application.

Offered helpful prep but with the online exam, there isn’t actually an essay so I felt like this portion needed to be updated as I spent quite a bit of time studying the essay portion only to not have to do it.

Get ahead of time with your preparation planning. If you are organized and follow the various steps, anyone could make it. Be consistent, hard-working, and confident. At the same time, do your research on the many school programs. Understand which is the best fit for you so your profile is a real fit.

    :

I’ve been preparing for the test for 3 years now. I took the self-study route. The online videos helped a lot. I found it very useful to purchase their full GMAT course set, as the practice questions are key to achieving your target score. I took the test twice, and the first time, I watched the videos and only did a handful of homework problems and I didn’t end up with a great result. One year later, I watched the videos again, and honed in and made sure to complete all the homework problems and practice tests until I was confident enough to re-take the test and get a good result. Veritas Prep is an excellent choice.

I enrolled in a six-week live online course for the GMAT and thought it was definitely worth the time and money investment. The instructor and assistant were incredibly engaging, thoughtful, and helpful during live class hours and throughout the weeks before and after the class started and ended. All of the resources, tips, and strategies provided to the students helped me to feel comfortable as I took the exam a few months later. Would recommend to any students looking to understand the exam and improve their performance on their weaknesses on the exam.

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Always answer the question(s) and re-read and check your essays to make sure that you're answering them clearly. Take the time to write the optional essay to explain any weak parts of your application that you feel may impact the admissions decision (e.g., exam scores or undergrad GPA that falls below the school average, gaps in employment, etc.). Have a clear answer as to why you want to go to grad school and how it will help you in your career. Good luck!

I was horrible in identifying a sentence structure. The issue caused me to have a gmat score in the low 500’s. To fix this I took one of my friends’ recommendation and used Veritas Prep to improve my score. Sure enough my verbal percentile went from 20 to 80!! These guys explain everything with a simplicity which eliminates the complexities of the verbal section of the GMAT. I highly recommend this to anyone with issues in the verbal section.

Veritas Prep is definitely on the pricier side of the cost spectrum. However, the results speak for themselves. I was able to achieve the GMAT score that I needed in order to get into my first choice MBA program. It has been over 5 years since I have solved the type of math and verbal reasoning problems found on the GMAT. Veritas did a great job, refreshing the basics and broke down the information effectively in a way that was to the point.

Took the online course self-study with Vertias Prep. Very good exercises and live listening lectures were great. What made it helpful was the live office hours where you can ask a particular question with an instructor. The only downside is that it was a large investment and the program did not come cheap. Overall was able to improve my GMAT score by more than 50 points.

Apply to at least 3-4 schools (reach, targets, and safety) as each school is looking for a particular fit once you cross a certain threshold. Really try to build meaningful relationships with the school admissions team by attending their events in your respective cities. I chose NYU as I wanted to continue in finance and believed that the network in New York City post-MBA would be very helpful.

I used Veritas for GRE prep and thought the flashcards and workbooks were really easy to understand compared to other companies that simply tried to teach you tricks on how to take the test. Some of those strategies can help add some points to your score, but Veritas had an actual focus on learning the material, and the curriculum really helped me brush up on concepts like exponents, vocab words, geometry, and other concepts I hadn’t thought about since high school. Highly recommend!

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Don't waste your time reading school websites and trying to craft the school's mission statements into your essays. Spend time actually contacting students and hearing about their perspectives on the school - what their favorite classes are, who are their favorite professors, what have been the most memorable experiences, etc. Use these stories and personal connections to craft your essays. You can do this either by visiting the university or simply sending students messages on LinkedIn; they will be eager to talk to you, and humbled that you reached out for their perspective.

Veritas Prep (Live Online Instruction) was a great accountability resource. The materials, namely the online practice problems at gradually increasing levels of difficulty were great at accustomizing me to the online test-taking format. The instructor (Aaron) was very lively and engaged — you could tell he was very invested in us.

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Don't wait to start brainstorming your essays as you can find many of the prompts online. The process of defining and refining your "story" will help you identify your gaps and may even give you enough time to find opportunities to fill those gaps. Multiple iterations of story-telling will also help you better communicate your strengths during networking and interviews.

I utilized the live online GMAT classes. The live portion was great and allowed you to interact with other students and the teacher. There are random questions interspersed throughout the lesson, which ensured you were paying attention. The homework assignments were very relevant and great practice. I took the GMAT twice before signing up for VeritasPrep. In retrospect, this is the only test prep company I would sign up for- lessons are very comprehensive and if you want to focus on a particular area (like I needed to), their top notch tutors provide insightful feedback. My score went up 60 points using Veritas, allowing me to apply to top 10 schools- I couldn’t be happier!

    MBA Program & Grad Year:
    Yale SOM, class of 2022
Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Start preparing for the GMAT as soon as possible- unlike others, I will say early undergrad (freshman/sophomore year) is actually too early, because the test only lasts for 5 years...if you can, I would prepping suggest senior year. I started the summer after graduating which was the perfect time for me. Once you start working, it becomes very hard to study. If you have other friends studying, sign up for the same class. It keeps you both accountable and organized. Develop a study plan and sign up for the test date months in advance, so you have an end point. While studying, make sure to take breaks. I also recommend keeping a tally of the questions and question types that you get wrong, and doing them a few days later. This will allow you to not only learn but focus your studying. Lastly, I recommend after every problem set or test that you complete to go through EVERY question, not just the ones you got wrong! Best of luck with your MBA journey :)

    :

I utilized the online course (not live, prerecorded). These were somewhat useful to get me the basic level of understanding of the material, but I would say not useful to push you over the edge into the 700+ range. For that I would recommend an in-person private tutor for the most specialized support.

    MBA Program & Grad Year:

Your MBA Application & School Advice:
I would suggest taking the GMAT as early as possible (in undergrad if feasible). As soon as you get into the working world it will be much harder to devote the necessary time to studying and taking practice tests.

The quantitative portions of the practice tests were very good, but the verbal was terrible and was not representative of the actual content at all. That being said, because I was much more focused on prepping for the quant side, this definitely met my expectations. Questions were challenging and a good representation of how that section seemed on the actual test.

Don't get stressed out when you read online that you're already behind. I know multiple people who got into great schools with a total of 1-2 months of work on the entire application process. That being said, it's obviously extremely helpful to start early. The part that took up the most time was scheduling school visits, events, and conversations with current students. That part should be done as early as possible.

Did not find their online course particularly helpful. Do you best to improve aspects of your application in your control (like your GMAT score). After that, focus on figuring out a story and brand that ties your application together and conveying it effectively in the essays and interviews. It will not only help your chances of admittance, but it will also help you think through your goals for the MBA program and beyond.

Veritas Prep was a great program and support to me in my studies. I did take the exam first before taking the prep course and I feel like it helped me. I went with the live online program that was very similar to being in online courses for school. Veritas helped me to realize that I had really gotten out of the good study habits that I will need so it is great in that aspect as well. They have a very supportive staff as well that was always available to answer any questions that I have as well. Highly recommend this course

I used Veritas online for targeted practice of areas that I struggled with and also for practice tests. The practice tests in particular were incredibly helpful for getting additional practice in a full testing environment. I took the six-week course with Ravi and Ron. This dynamic duo made me look forward to class, and pushed me to succeed. Ravi was very direct with students who had clearly not prepared by doing the homework. He genuinely cared about elevating us to the highest possible GMAT scores. Ravi and Ron shared a phenomenal sense of humor; their constant banter and good natured rivalry kept things lively and very entertaining! It was easy for me to stay engaged during the three-hour sessions each Saturday and Sunday…time honestly flew. The material was quite challenging, make no mistake. But Ravi was accessible as an instructor and helped me realize the key to the GMAT was strategy. I focused my efforts accordingly, and was able to sail through test day with a huge smile on my face! Veritas Prep is an amazing GMAT prep experience. It is evident that the organization gave careful thought to the structure of their student experience, from the sales experience, to the comprehensive online student portal, to the creative (and sometimes appropriately wacky) teachers. During the sales experience, I spoke with someone over the phone and he quickly answered all of my questions and then some. He also followed up diligently and concierged me into the experience (I purchased the package about two or three weeks before the course started and the sales associate helped me get up and running during that lead up time).

Once you enroll, Veritas Prep gives you access to an online student portal that houses a study plan, practice tests, practice problems, videos and recordings of your class. I found this one-stop shop very intuitive and helpful to help organize my efforts (because we all know that GMAT studying can go in multiple different directions). They also sent me 12 dense lesson books; spend the time to read through them, they have some good content in there. I really liked the philosophy of Veritas Prep (focus on strategy and reasoning, rather than content memorization). A previous course that I took did not touch on strategy at all and I think that’s what prevented me from realizing my fullest potential.

I took an online live class with a teacher by the name of Ethan Todras-Whitehill. He is a little bit out there, but at the same time, you almost need someone like that to help bring the content to life, engrain it in your mind so come test day you remember certain techniques. The classroom environment he created was extremely collaborative (I’ve never taken an online course before, so I was pretty impressed with the technology as well). Ethan also went ‘off-book’ at points, supplementing the prescribed Veritas Prep material with his own creative slides to help further enforce the strategy and content. Ethan also focuses more on strategy and helps you understand why strategy is so important on the GMAT. At first I didn’t trust some of the strategies, but once I gave them a try, I became a believer….THEY WORK! It’s evident that Ethan has invested additional time to facilitate a robust learning experience, which I can say was effective at engaging me and keeping me coming back for more.

All in all, i’m in believer in Veritas Prep and would highly recommend the course.

I used Veritas prep’s online videos to supplement my work in the Barron’s GMAT prep books and flash card. I am normally a book only learner, but since the Barron’s books were not very well written for the mathematics portion—especial the ratios problems and percent solutio( I have a chemistry minor in undergrad and they were 100 percent incorrect!! UGH) I looked to the veritas prep videos as a supplement. * Note I did not use any of their written material.
I found the videos to be professionally done, extremely helpful in the explanation of steps, and ultimately saved my QUANT score. I also used the videos on grammar and sentence construction/correction with great success. I found them mush easier to understand when visualized as well as explained.

The GMAT WAS STRESSFUL! Practice on your timing is my biggest recommendation. Also use the method of ditch an go, I took too long on the first few problems in Quant and didn’t have any time to finish the easier ones toward the end. I hate the format in which you can’t go back and work on a problem, but it is just a fact of life on this test you must accept and work through.

Although I am never one to play up my abilities and hate to do so, this is THE time to do so. I also think it is important to include a little humility or highlight an area of weakness that you want to work through in your essay to demonstrate your ability to grow---- but don;t be afraid to brag a little too! In the United States, business is run by confident and independent, thinkers and those qualities are looked for in candidates in MBA programs. If you come from a more reserved collectivist society, you might find it difficult to assert yourself in this way, but it is necessary to shine through among the hundreds of applications.

It’s well worth the money. It’s very easy to use and to navigate through the different sections. I liked this setup better than their competitors because of the ability to customize the length and intensity of quizzes, general questions or mock exams. In many of the others you can only take a full length mock exam, and it most days you won’t have the 2 or 3 hours to go through the whole thing. I like to receive instant feedback, and doing 5 or 10 questions helped me effectively find out my weaknesses and where I needed to focus to better my overall test results.

Review of Veritas Prep Live Online Course with Ravi
The is the easiest review I’ll probably ever have to write because Ravi’s online GMAT class is excellent in every respect. Every class, you would go in with expectations of what the lesson would be like based on a conventional understanding of the topic area and every class Ravi would shatter your expectations with consistently brilliant explanations.

The amazing experience that is Ravi Sreerama’s Live Online GMAT course goes far beyond getting first rate explanations of GMAT problems. Ravi is funny, engaging and professional and is really good at pushing you to learn as much as you can each and every minute of the lesson. He truly cares about all of his students and believes everyone, if they work hard, has the potential to reach their goals on the GMAT.

Ravi has such an intuitive understanding of what it takes to do well on the GMAT and his overall approach to the class reflects that. All of the discussions are centered on what it will be like on test day–timing, psychology, and strategy are all covered in great detail. By the end of the class, if you do what Ravi recommends, you will have developed a “GMAT Mindset,” that puts you in position to do well on test day.

Do yourself a favor and sign up for Ravi’s class. It is the best possible decision you can make if you want to ace the GMAT (and ace life in general).

Get started early. There are so many steps to the process, and the more time you have to study for the GMAT, reflect on your goals, and refine your essays, the better your overall application will be. I studied for the GMAT from May to early July (~2 months), then switched into application prep mode for ~3 months until the end of September. So from beginning to end, be prepared to spend 4-6 months on the process. I had a lot of time off during that time, so if you are working full-time you may need longer than that.

Title of Review: 30-hour Veritas Prep Tutoring Package

Background: Prior to completing the VP tutoring package, I had already completed an in-person GMAT preparation class with Manhattan GMAT. The course was 27 hours long in total. After I completed the course, I took the GMAT once and scored a 600 (Q39 / V34). Unhappy with my score, I studied some more and took the GMAT again 2 months later and scored a 620 (Q42 / V34). I want to point out that by this point I had already studied 300 hours total for the GMAT. After taking the GMAT the 2nd time, I knew that these scores were too low. So, after a break to recharge my batteries, I evaluated the other test preparation options and decided that a different test preparation company and approach could help me get to the next level. I decided to invest in a 30-hour tutoring package with Veritas Prep.

Action: I invested in the 30-hour tutoring package with VP. I was paired with a VP tutor in my area. Very nice guy and a patient teacher. A good communicator for scheduling our tutoring sessions.

Pros: The personalized attention was great. My tutor had an Excel model to evaluate my performance on my practice tests (for full disclosure, this was a model that he put together and was not the property of VP, per se). He also provided me some extra practice problems that were customized for my key areas of improvement. I also want to note that during this time, my willpower to continue studying for the GMAT waned on and off because of work, and the hours it was taking to study (remember, I had already studied 300 hours prior to starting the tutoring package). My tutor gave me that extra push to continue the fight.

Cons: A tutoring package is not cheap. It’s an investment and at the end of the day, there are no guarantees that your GMAT score will improve. Granted, this is also primarily driven by the effort the test-taker makes to get a good score.

Results: After completing the tutoring package, I took the GMAT a 3rd time and scored a 610 (Q43 / V31). Major disappointment. After recharging my batteries again, I decided to study more to prepare to take the GMAT a 4th time. I took the GMAT again 7 months after my 3rd GMAT and scored a 650 (Q45 / V34). By the time I took my 4th GMAT, I had studied a grand total of 550 hours (from the start of my Manhattan GMAT course to end of my 4th GMAT). Given the timing of this last GMAT, I knew that this was my last time taking the GMAT because I had to work on the other items of my business school applications. In summary, completing the 30-hour VP tutoring package helped me improve my score from 620 (66th percentile) to 650 (76th percentile).

Final Say: Do I recommend VP? The quality of the service is top-notch. But, at the end of the day, everything depends on the GMAT scores. VP helped me improve my score from 620 to 650. While it is not the jump that I would have hoped for (I was shooting for 700), the tutoring package helped improve my score. I don’t know if I would have been able to make the jump from 620 to 650 without VP because my tutor gave me the extra mental push to continue studying. Trust me that this is key because the process was very mentally exhausting for me. All in all, I was admitted to Columbia Business School. So, the GMAT isn’t everything!

    Columbia Business School / 2019
Your MBA Application & School Advice:
Figuring out "Why the MBA" can be a different experience for everyone. I had a long process of introspection for me to identify what I was passionate about, and what I should pursue to pivot out of consulting. Once I identified what I wanted to do after the MBA, I pursued many opportunities to learn more about my target industry (I did a deep-dive). I read books, blogs, and documentaries. I spoke with people in the industry. I took classes related to my target industry and even did "mini field trips" related to my target industry, among other activities. All of these data points, anecdotes, and deep-dive experiences make your story that much more compelling, because you need to convince the admissions committee that your target industry is truly what you want to pursue.
As you develop your story, make sure that there are no holes in it. Really think through things. Because some MBA admissions interviewers poke holes at your story to make sure it is robust and well thought-out -- after all, admissions committees know that the MBA is a major investment, and they want to be sure that you have thoroughly thought out why you want to make this major investment.

Best of luck on your GMAT and MBA application process!

Veritas’ practice exams were the best that I encountered in my preparation for the GMAT. My results on the exams were within 20 points of my actual score. If you seek access to high-quality questions to train, then Veritas is a great solution.

I accessed a lot of Veritas GMAT test prep resources through a combined program offered by a Women’s Business Group, so I didn’t not have full access to the learning modules. However, the practice tests and performance breakdowns within those were immensely powerful for me.

The course overall was simple to digest and easy to use. It worked in a variety of platforms, and the online portion specifically made it easy to finish.

My biggest concern was that the level of the questions that was focused were far more an overview of the GMAT test, and it did not dive really into the higher level questions that are found in an adaptive test.

I would advise using this service, but it should be complemented with example questions of a harder variety (a book or e-book can easily fill this void).

Do a lot of networking. Don't be afraid to look at your choice school's website, look for representatives that you can talk to as well as current students in clubs or ambassadors.

After you have learned their perspective, what they like about the school, what they don't like, and advice they can offer, put their insight in your application to demonstrate you are invested.

Also be clear on your intentions of what you want with your MBA. Even if you're not sure, write a concrete plan to show the administrators that you are serious and that you are someone who will represent their school well. It doesn't hurt if part of that plan is about how to give back to the campus, either as a student and/or as an alumni.

Completing the Veritas Prep Online GMAT course was one of the best decisions I made during my pre-MBA journey. After each online session, I went through additional practice questions on my own (so many were available) to help solidify my understanding of the content. The professor, who was visible via camera, called on us and we used the Chat Screen to respond. He explained concepts and practice questions/answers with ease and simplicity. Even though the course was online, it was still engaging and kept my attention. I was never bored. I laughed quite a bit as the other students and professor were humorous. And the Veritas Prep Dashboard features videos and lots of additional resources that can be used before/after class sessions. Overall, the Veritas Prep GMAT course was well worth the price of admission. Happy customer!

I used Veritas and found the online self paced study to be easy to use and very helpful. A few things that stood out to me in regards to this program:

    1. This was perfect for my life style at the time, working during the day then coming home to pick up where I last left off. The downside is that you must be a self starter to really take advantage of this course of study. No one will push you to finish up all your modules for you, so if you need that external motivation, I would find another program.

    2. The cost was relatively cheap for all the books that I was given and the amount of time that I used this program.

    3. My initial pre-study GMAT test score was 590, but after a month of diligent work I was able to score a 690.

I had a bit of a panic mode, last minute GMAT studying session. Initially I wanted to embark on a self-study route but soon found that I was in over my head. After doing some brief research, I decided to purchase the online course at Vertias Prep.

The course is comprehensive and includes various resources such as online lectures, homework problems, quizzes, and live help. It was a great (and cheaper) option for me as I didn’t have much time to go into a live class. If I didn’t understand the homework answer explanation, there were additional videos posted to give further insight. And if I was still confused, there were office hours where I could ask a live instructor. The software also had the capacity to create quizzes to take in cases where you didn’t have time to sit down for a full-length test. And the tests themselves were pretty similar to the actual GMAT test. The online lessons provided foundation basics that were helpful for those of us who haven’t used our quantitative side in awhile, and also expounded on various strategies to take the test.

I highly recommend this course as it helped me achieve my goal score within my two month time limit.

The course work is very thourough and there are a lot of great resources for looking at problems/topics from different persepctives (lectures, practice problems, etc…).

Where I struggled with Veritas was in taking the practice exams and fine tuning my test taking skills. I went the self-study route and used Veritas prep books as a supplement to my preparation. The books were insightful, but gave long-winded explanations to problem answers that often confused me more than educated me. The books could also use more ‘800-level’ problems

Align your resume and essays to make a straight line from your background to your post-MBA goals. MBA programs aren't just looking for good grades and scores; they're looking for students who are employable. Regardless of your background, you must be able to convey a succinct story for why your MBA + your pre-MBA experience will lead to your future job. An MBA alone will not suffice with most MBA recruiters, since the entire applicant pool for these jobs will already have an MBA. It's your whole package that counts.

The Veritas program was great at teaching me how to take the test. The skills and lessons taught me to approach many of the questions in a different light, and this re-oriented thinking greatly benefited me on the day of the test. My instructor was very easy to access and consistently offered to help as much personalized help as he could. It was a good balance of in class instruction and outside preparation. My grade increased 40 points after the course, from 690 to 730.

My advice is to focus on your application as a whole. Having one stand out variable doesn't make you a great candidate; having multiple aspects of your portfolio will help more. Also, don't forget that even some of the "national" schools are still regional when it comes to opportunities during business school and after graduation. It's easier to head to a school in an area that you would like to be after.

The veritas program is very thorough and clear. Once you complete the study guides you notice a major difference in your scores. I also felt the online tests were very representative of the actual GMAT. Overall, I really liked the program and felt it was more clear than material from Manhattan.

The Veritas course was a good introduction to your MBA test prep. It is by no means the end all be all, but was a great way to accelerate your prep, keep you on a schedule, and give you access to a network of classmates in the same situation. There are a million test prep strategies and everyone will give you different advice. In the end you need to do your own online research and figure out what works best for you.

Veritas is the gold standard in GMAT prep. Definitely purchase the text. However, I thought their online offering could be improved. I’d like to see more immediate feedback at the beginning. For example, for online questions that you got wrong, you could immediately practice many more questions similar to it.

If you have a weak background or don't have mentors who've attended that particular MBA program, hire a consultant. Additionally, be sure that you visit each of the MBA schools that you apply to. Most MBA schools will automatically reject your application if you reside in the U.S. and haven't visited their U.S. campus.

There are a lot of suitable review materials out there, but the quality of the instructor at my Veritas course was the differentiator. In the class and in the curriculum structure, I was able to get a motivational boost and achieve strategy objectives that helped me both on the test and in the broader application process. With limited time, I learned in the class how to optimize my studying according to my strengths and weaknesses.

Veritas is a very complete course, however, one has to be very careful not to spend too much time in a specific set of problems…or one book – instructors can do a better job directing student on this. Their practice tests are not an accurate representation of the GMAT software and thus results should be taken with this in mind.

The prep course was very thorough and well done. My class size was small allowing for lots of individual questions. The instructor was clearly experienced and well prepared for each class.

The high number of practice tests was a big plus. The tests were not the greatest quality, but they were good enough for practice. The training materials were thorough, but I thought they were better suited for someone trying to get to 700, versus someone already at 700 trying to get to 750.

Overall, I would definitely enroll again. It gave me a good foundation to build on with self study materials from other companies.

Veritas was okay, but not as exceptional as everyone says. It is really just a group of people who believe they are super smart who hold you accountable for studying at the appropriate pace. It was a nice group of people to be around and discuss test taking with, but the teacher was terrible. It was his first live teaching class. Not only did he not know how to interact with his students, but he got a lot of the questions wrong and couldn’t help us when we had more advanced questions. Make sure to pick a professor with lots of experience if you pick the Veritas route. The people who you will be in the class with though are top notch who take it seriously so that is very helpful.

Prior to taking the GMAT, I bought a lot of different books to study out of. However I knew that the actual format of the test would be online, so I wanted some prep in the actual test environment. Veritas had a free GMAT test online that gave me the opportunity to do so. I think the actual GMAT test was easier than the prep test, so I was glad that I was doing everything I can to prep for something harder so that I could ace the actual test.

The Veritas Prep books are the best in the industry. They are well laid out and easy to follow, with numerous homework questions in the back. I really liked the format of the online class, as it allowed me to ask questions without feeling embarrassed, talk directly with a TA during the class, and also learn from the comfort of home. The recorded lessons that were provided after each class were also extremely helpful. I’d definitely recommend Veritas Prep to anyone considering business school!

Start early! I underestimated how long it would take to go through the whole process. I would start with the GMAT and knock that out of the way. Then start going to recruiting events and meeting admissions representatives so you can get your face in front of the right people and also find out which schools are a good fit for you. I'd recommend doing a lot of research for your school selection and then starting with the applications.

I took the in person classroom course while simultaneously leveraging the interactive online course. I thought the classroom prep was incredibly beneficial and well worth the money.

I was also very impressed with the interactive platform. I found the online instruction to be interesting and clearly explained. They hired some very good instructors for this course.

Plenty of practice tests. I found the verbal prep to be excellent. It was challenging (harder than the actual GMAT, but parallel in its concepts). I found the quant section to be a little lacking in similarity to the actual test. This is my only knock for this whole course. I felt that Veritas quant questions were aimed at tripping the student up (burying details in long questions) while the GMAT tested conceptual understanding and application. Just my opinion.

I highly recommend Veritas; I took the online classroom course in 2008. The course was about eight weeks in length with two live online lessons every weekend. There were hundreds of practice problems for each lesson, but you get more out of the lessons if you do all the problems. Veritas also gave me access to at least 6 practice tests, which definitely helped me prepare for the real GMAT. It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it. In the end, I spent $1000 on Veritas Prep, but it paid itself back several times over in scholarship dollars.
