Part Time or Full Time MBA: GMAT Test Prep Tips

Part Time or Full Time MBA: GMAT Test Prep Tips

It’s no secret that having a Master’s in Business Administration can help you to earn higher paying jobs. But, once you decide to go back to school, you have to decide whether you want to pursue a part-time or full-time MBA degree. By weighing the pros and cons of each option, you can make the best decision possible and shift your focus to studying for the GMAT!

Full-Time MBA

The most obvious advantage to earning your MBA as a full-time student is the shortened two year time frame, as opposed to the three of four years it takes to earn one part-time. But, its full-time nature means that you cannot hold a traditional job while in the program. You can still have a job on the weekends, but studying and family commitments may keep you from being the best employee you can be.

Part-Time MBA

Part-time MBA programs are great because you can hold down a regular job during the day, and complete coursework in the evenings or on weekends. You may even be able to have your employer pay for all or part of your MBA degree. But, if you have family, they may become annoyed at your constant absence. And because part-time MBA programs can take up to four years to complete, they will have to deal with this longer than they would if you got a full- time MBA. Finally, there is no significant difference in the salaries earned by those who have completed part-time MBA programs versus those who have completed full-time MBA programs.

It’s important to consider both options and talk with your family and friends before starting an MBA program. No matter which type of degree you choose, you’ll have to spend lots of time studying to ensure that you earn a great score on the GMAT!
